About me and my therapy practice

About me

Counselling in Reading, Berkshire.

Online/Face2Face

I'm a qualified, registered counsellor with a focus on healing trauma offering counselling or psychotherapy to adults, young adults (18+), and young people (14-17).

We all have the capacity to resolve our difficulties. Sometimes we just hit a wall and need to make sense of past or new challenges. Feeling lost or disconnected can feel unsettling. Checking in with ourselves and gaining self-awareness can be quite the antidote.

All of these difficulties can be worked through from a place of safety and motivation. Giving yourself the platform to find your way again can lead to a sense feeling more connected to yourself and others. Quite often, we already have the solutions to our struggles.

Alongside my private practice, I work with a Charity in Reading supporting people of all ages who've experienced & have been impacted by rape, sexual abuse and sexual assault. I also work alongside others who would like to move on from their adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).

Reconnecting to ourselves is a rewarding process and insightful journey. It's important for me to see you as a whole person, not just your 'issues' but with your own unique experiences/journey.

My training, qualifications, and experience:

I hold a Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling (Dip.TC) and am a registered member.

My formal training is in Integrative Counselling, with a Person Centred Foundation.

CYP (14+) and adult counsellor at Trusthouse Reading

A listening volunteer with Samaritans for two years, offering support to individuals in distress over the phone.

Regular Continuous Professional Development related to the field of Abuse and ACEs.

I've lived and worked in Spain for 8 years.

My academic background includes a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Law with Spanish, obtained in 2003.

Practice description

What you can expect working with me

It's common to feel uncertain about what has led you to counselling, and that's perfectly okay. Even if things seem unclear, we'll work together to figure this out if you want to. Some helpful pointers

  • Motivation to engage in your process;
  • A good therapeutic relationship with your counsellor/therapist is an important tool;
  • Sessions provide insight and self-awareness (along with other benefits) but what happens outside of sessional work is just as important for self-development/healing.
  • Learning to have open communication with your counsellor/therapist.

Regardless of where you find yourself, my commitment is to meet you there.

As a trained professional, I offer a secure and confidential environment where you can explore and process at your own pace. In my role as your counsellor, I'll encourage you to tune into your own needs and cultivate self-awareness. This skill is invaluable in managing feelings of panic or anxiety. By attuning to your mind, body, and soul, you'll gain clarity, feel more able and empowered allowing space for new directions and growth to emerge.
