About me and my therapy practice

Victoria Cobham, Counsellor and Solicitor.

LLB (Hons), LSF, DAFJ, Prof Dip, MBACP.

Hello, I'm Victoria.

If you wish aspects of your life could be different or if you feel stuck, sad or confused about how to change your existence positively, please come and see me, online or in person (or a mix of the two). I offer bespoke counselling in hour long sessions for individuals and hour and a quarter long sessions for couples.

I am a fully qualified counsellor; a Registered Member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP); a qualified relationships counsellor; in my final year of a Master's degree (level 7) in psychosexual therapy, registered as such with the College of Sexual and Relationship Therapists (COSRT); and a qualified Solicitor and member of the Law Society.  I abide by the BACP’s and COSRT's code of ethics and good practice and attend regular clinical supervision in my counselling work.

I have worked with people with an extensive range of concerns. My special interests are anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship issues, divorce, eating disorders, low self-esteem, identity issues, loss of desire and sexual difficulties and dysfunction.

Come to me for my exceptional experience and my warm, welcoming, non-judgmental approach. You can talk to me about anything and everything. My aim will be to help you thrive, enjoy your life and achieve your aims.

Recent client feedback: "Victoria opened my mind, gave me clarity and a completely renewed perspective.  A totally uplifting experience, I feel refreshed and empowered. " (E.T.)

Practice description

My approach is all about you.  Should you seek my help, a lot of our work together will focus on your values and what you hold dear; how you perceive your life and other people in it; how you have come to believe the things that you do; and how you interpret the words and actions of those around you, so we can find out what is undermining you presently.  If you have a mental health issue or sexual dysfunction, we will look at how it might have come about and how it is impacting on you, as well as how it can be dispelled.  We will look at your future; what you think would be your ‘best life’; identify the things that are preventing it from being realised and establish the best way of overcoming them.

My therapeutic approach is integrative – I deploy the counselling styles that I consider most fruitful for each individual client or couple, although I use the person-centred counselling model as the basis of that integration, for individual therapy.  For couples therapy, I use cognitive behavioural therapy and systemic models as the basis of integration.

I offer bespoke counselling services for adults. It might be necessary to see you weekly or, say, fortnightly or just once a month, dependent on your concerns and their impact on you. It might be necessary to see you more at the beginning than towards the end of therapy. I can accommodate any of these options, according to your own specific needs.

Please note that my counselling sessions are each a full hour for individuals, rather than the usual 50 minutes, and an hour and a quarter for couples.  The cost of individual's sessions is £80 an hour; couple's sessions are £95 for an hour and a quarter session.

My first session

The first session for individuals will take one and a half hours, but be payable at the same rate as other hourly sessions (i.e. £80 for the full hour and a half first session).

The first session for couples will take one and a half hours, but be payable at the same rate as other hour and a quarter sessions (i.e. £95 for the full hour and a half first session).
