About me and my therapy practice

Hello, my name is Asha. I am a person-centred therapist, working in private practice. an Associate Independent Practitioner for a private limited company and also present workshops at counselling and psychotherapy research events and conferences based on my research projects.

In 2023, I was awarded an MSc in Person-Centred & Experiential Psychotherapy after completing a UKCP accredited psychotherapy training programme at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Training Institute, (SPTI). I have gained five years of clinical experience, in private practice, private and charity counselling and psychotherapy organisations since 2019.

Having met all of the necessary and clinical requirements, I am a  BACP Registered Member and UKCP Clinical Registered Psychotherapist.

I strongly believe how we are with ourselves matters. At the heart of my therapeutic work is you. Does trauma, grief or anxiety steer you away from where you are or striving towards? I understand sharing these experiences can be overwhelming and uncomfortable.

I have supported many adults for a number of years experiencing a range of issues including

Anxiety, including (generalised anxiety),

Trauma including (c-PTSD, PTSD, birth trauma)

Depression

Grief

Low self-esteem

Identity related matters

Life transitions.

I have a continued interest supporting adults who straddle multicultural and/or dual heritage identity. Navigating through majority and minority groups can be confusing and lonely. Cultural sensitivity and inclusivity are harnessed in my clinical practice and research contributions. I will adjust the way I work to honour your identity, relationships and family as they are experienced by you. Many clients value bringing spirituality and religion into our work together and in a respectful way, I will be alongside you.

I support and empower many adults choosing to embrace their unique identity located in

Race Issues

Ethnicity

Spirituality

Age related issues

LGBTQ+

Practice description

In my practice, I maintain an active genuine openness, and expansion towards the experiences clients are so courageously willing to share within the co-created therapeutic safe space.

Drawing on clinical intuition and empathic understanding I observe, in your thoughts, emotions and body. I illuminate patterns of thought and emotion and validate your authentic voice away from judgment and expectation.

I adjust and honour your experience as communicated by you. My intentions are to empower and strengthen your belief system and the way you feel. I support clients working through diagnosis and or life events. Together, we can move towards defining your unique pathway of change. Identifying what is healing and helpful, and how you might want circumstances to be different.

My first session

In a confidential, and calm space, I will support you. Harnessed in mutual respect and an accepting therapeutic relationship. At your pace, we will understand and reflect on your past, and present experiences, inviting compassionate inner dialogue, coping strategies, and movement away from shame and criticism. I will not judge you.

My hopes for you are that you gain self awareness, and autonomy. Realising and motioning towards your unique potential within, and in the relationships you regard.

If you are curious to experience what working together may feel like or seek further information. You can reach out to me. During an initial consultation, we can begin to identify your reasons and desires for engaging in therapy. I offer short-term (6-12 sessions) and open-ended therapy. The length can be negotiated at the beginning of our work together or through a process of review during the course of our work together.

I support trainee counselling and psychotherapy students embarking on academic activity within counselling and psychotherapy. Having qualified to level 7 and recently graduated, I can help you.

Student members in many subjects have benefited from gaining support with
