About me and my therapy practice
I'm Mark Mahoney, a BACP-registered integrative therapist based in Bromley. I specialize in helping adults navigate challenges related to anger, anxiety, and self-esteem.
Struggling with these issues can feel overwhelming and isolating. You might find yourself reacting in ways that strain relationships or hinder personal growth. In our sessions, we'll work collaboratively to understand the underlying causes of these feelings and develop strategies to manage them effectively.
My approach is tailored to each individual's needs, drawing from various therapeutic models to provide the most effective support.
Practice description
Choosing to begin therapy can feel like a big step. You may be seeking support for anxiety, anger, low self-esteem, or finding it difficult to manage change and uncertainty. Whatever has brought you here, I offer a calm, supportive, and confidential space where you can explore what’s happening without fear of judgment.
I work integratively, meaning I draw on different therapeutic approaches to tailor the work to your unique needs. Therapy is not "one size fits all" — we will collaborate to find a style and pace that suits you. Whether you want to better manage overwhelming feelings, address patterns that are holding you back, or simply make sense of difficult experiences, our sessions will focus on what matters most to you.
My approach is grounded, respectful, and down-to-earth. I aim to help you understand yourself more deeply, manage emotional challenges more effectively, and feel more confident moving forward. I view therapy as a partnership, where together we work towards the changes you hope to see.
I offer both short-term and longer-term therapy depending on your goals. Sessions are available in person at my practice in Bromley or online via Zoom.
If you would like to find out more or arrange an initial consultation, I welcome you to get in touch.
My first session
I offer a free 20-minute telephone or Zoom consultation before starting therapy, giving you the chance to ask questions and get a feel for how I work.
Our first full session is an opportunity for us to begin exploring what has brought you to therapy and what you hope to achieve. It is also a chance for you to experience how it feels to work with me and decide whether you would like to continue.
In this session, I may ask some structured questions about your background, current situation, and any key events that you feel are important to share. However, the focus is always on going at your pace — you are free to share only what feels comfortable.
We will also talk about practicalities such as confidentiality, session frequency, and any specific goals you may have. There is no expectation or pressure to commit beyond this first meeting.
My standard fee applies for the first full session (£65), with no separate assessment charge.
