About me and my therapy practice
I am a qualified psychotherapist offering a confidential counselling service for individuals, both in person and remotely. I view entering into a therapeutic relationship as an act of bravery and a leap of faith. It will involve stepping out of your 'comfort zone'. Building trust in our relationship is a journey I never underestimate and a privilege that I never take for granted; it's what I love about my job. I aim to put you at ease so that we can explore anything and everything you choose to bring to our sessions.I am a member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists and hold a valid DBS and professional indemnity insurance. I have a background in teaching that continues to contribute to my client work.I hold a BSc in Psychology from the University of Leicester (2000), a Post Graduate Certificate in Education from the University of Leeds (2002), a Post Graduate Certificate in Interpersonal and Counselling Skills (2019) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy (2021) from Leeds Beckett University. Additionally, I have trained with organisations such as Bradford Bereavement Service, Cruse, Sue Ryder and Mind.Practice description
I am interested in why you are seeking counselling; you may wish to describe any previous experiences of counselling you have had.You may wish to express what you feel your current support systems include- such as family and friends- and think about what you would like to achieve through therapy. As the relationship becomes established, clients sometimes wish to bring personal documents to demonstrate their world view, such as photographs and family trees. Other clients might wish to express themselves by drawing diagrams in the session or using metaphors to describe their thoughts, feelings and experiences. Everything you bring is treated with the greatest respect. If what you have read about me as a therapist appeals to you as a client, we can arrange an initial consultation to explore how we might work together. If we decide to proceed, we can agree a mutually convenient way to engage. My first session
In our first session, I need to gather some basic information about you and discuss our therapeutic contract, which details our rights and responsibilities. I charge £35.00 for this session. You will have time to describe your current situation and historic issues and perhaps explore why now is the right time for you to engage in therapy. You might also want to consider your goals i.e., what you would like to achieve through therapy. If you choose to proceed, sessions are charged at £45.00 per hour. What I can help with
