About me and my therapy practice

Hi my name is Sara. I am a fully qualified and experienced counsellor registered with the BACP.  People generally  attend my counselling sessions to reduce their stress and anxiety levels, understand the origins of problematic behaviours, and work through relationship difficulties.

My way of working

I have gained extensive training and knowledge in mental health issues such as anxiety trauma and low mood.  Combined with training and lived experiences I can fully understand the impact it has on individuals lives.

I provide person centred talking therapy for you to work through difficult emotions, thoughts and experiences in a safe non-judgmental environment.

I am also fully trained to incorporate CBT tools if needed, this is called integrative counselling.

Occasionally, I work  this way with individuals because sometimes the root of our problems might be unknown to ourselves, but by working in an integrative way which involves talking therapy and CBT we can work together to explore the possible cause and explore this in depth.

Together this combination can be beneficial because it is an all round approach which combines talking about difficult emotions and experiences, and the approach also assists in identifying unhelpful behaviours such as avoidance, negative thought patterns and triggers which might lead to unhealthy coping strategies.

My Experience

At present I work with organisations and individuals on a one to one basis providing in person face to face, online and telephone counselling.

Prior to this i spent a few years in the charity sector where i counselled men and women experiencing a wide range of mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, PTSD and relationship upheavals.

Before becoming a counselling therapist I spent 19 years working in the corporate sector, this background means that I am familiar with the demands of work the dynamics of working relationships and the related stresses that can arise.
