About me and my therapy practice
Therapy can be a difficult step, and figuring out what your needs are and what to expect can be confusing. Working with me involves looking at your past in order to see how you carry it with you today. Through processing the past you can begin to let it go, and start to live in the present.
I am psychodynamically trained so I aim to look at roots of behaviour and trace them back to unresolved feelings or experiences from childhood. It can be a long, difficult process of reliving the past, but I am here alongside you to give you support and understanding throughout, and help you come out of the process with more self awareness.
The benefits of counselling can affect many aspects of your life. In learning more about yourself; the way you are, why you respond in particular ways, and why you may have adapted these behaviours; your compassion and kindness to yourself can improve, as does your sense of self value. As you validate and value yourself more, you begin to validate and value those around you for their own experiences and how they can relate to you because of or in spite of your separate experiences.
The counselling I offer can be helpful if: you feel depressed or lonely and unable to connect with others; you feel anxious and worried and need to put this into perspective; you are having trouble in your relationship and feel you want to examine your part in that relationship; you feel you have lost your identity because of work, relationships or changes in family circumstances.
I have worked with clients who experience depression, anxiety, low self-confidence, pre- and post- natal emotions, comfort eating and lack of identity
Counselling can give everyone space to reflect upon themselves, and find their way to a truer, more contented way of being.
