About me and my therapy practice
Sometimes it's hard to see the wood for the trees; in the darkness of the forest which pathway to take, which one is hidden, overgrown, which one is well trodden and no longer serves us, which one can be reshaped or discovered to lead you out to the light.
Life is like a tree, we all have the ability to grow and produce a wonderful canopy of fresh leaves nourished by the warmth of the sun and refreshing rain. But sometimes the winds blow, our roots are upturned and our leaves wither and fall. With the right conditions and support we have the ability to harness our inner energy to regenerate and push up new shoots to grow and thrive once again.
As an experienced Integrative Counselling Psychotherapist, I offer you the space to explore, walking alongside you and supporting you safely on that journey.
Practice description
While nature throws all kinds of weather at the tree, life can also throw all kinds of events, expected or unexpected, at us. We experience those changes with a full range of emotions and sometimes it’s difficult to understand and acknowledge these feelings. We can choose to ignore them and gradually they start to affect the way we go about our daily lives. Others may notice the changes that we struggle to accept... just like a tree which can start to slowly decay from the inside out.
I offer a safe, accepting and compassionate approach for you to start to explore and slowly give meaning to those experiences and feelings. Together we can work at a pace that suits you, we can listen and learn from the storms that you have encountered. We can develop ways to start to nourish yourself and repair wounds so you can begin to flourish once more.
I have worked for many years with a local charity, supporting those who are suffering from the emotional pulls of loss and grief, the hopelessness of depression and the turmoil of anxiety. As an Integrative Counselling Psychotherapist, I will hold you at the centre of our work and integrate skills, knowledge and techniques from the counselling world to enable change.
My first session
Our first session will be a chance for us to undercover some of the thoughts, feelings and actions you wish to bring to our work together, we will explore your experiences and assess whether we would like to work together. It's important for us to make sure that I can support you both professionally and ethically and that you feel safe and comfortable working alongside me. If we agree to move forward together then we will consider the initial focus of our work.
I offer both zoom sessions or in person weekly sessions, 50 minute in length from £65 a session. Our time together is open ended, agreeing on review points together assessing the progress throughout the process, and mutually decide on how long we need together.
