About me and my therapy practice
I support individuals with depression, anxiety, loss, a life altering illness or bereavement. I have a special interest and experience supporting those who have, or suspect that they have, Autism/Aspergers or ADHD.
I also have experience with helping people to deal with and eventually thrive after undergoing major life changes and transitions such as leaving home, parenthood, divorce, menopause, and empty next.
Many clients are searching for a sense of purpose or meaning in life or have lost their sense of identity. Every client has different needs and I adapt my approach accordingly, integrating Humanistic and Existential practice where appropriate.
My experience is derived, not only from my private practice, but also from time working in the NHS with cancer patients and their families for a charity within the Royal Surrey County Hospital. This enabled me to gain a deep understanding of the impact of a cancer diagnosis (or any life threatening condition). Readjusting to life after cancer can be just as challenging as living with it.
With the charity HomeStart, I supported mothers struggling with being new parents, coping with unexpected feelings, depression, and bonding difficulties, as well as those who are overwhelmed or suffering loss and grief.
Before becoming a counsellor I worked in both the corporate and charity sectors. I lived and worked for many years in Asia, Latin America and Europe and am sensitive to cultural differences and the particular challenges of living as an expat.
