About me and my therapy practice
My work is from an integrative perspective, this means that I have different lenses through which I can walk alongside you to uncover fresh insight, connections and explore patterns that have become difficult to unpick. I base my practice on a holistic framework of mind, body and soul - the reconnection of disconnected parts of self to bring a greater sense of awareness and wellbeing. I work in a relational, client centred manner walking with you to understand and support your growth.
My theoretical training is person centred, Transpersonal, Gestalt and I work a trauma informed approach with experience of working with attachment issues, trauma and narcissism. I am qualified to Level 5 in Psychotherapeutic Counselling. Through my experience of working in the higher education system I have an informed understanding of neurodiversity and the specific challenges that this can bring. I work from a place of building trust, safety and openness to facilitate a space for clients to fully explore and meet goals within the work.
Alongside this I have lived experience of the care system, boarding school and narcissism. My personal experience shapes my practice with a unique understanding of loss, developmental trauma and bereavement that enables a deep, rich level of emotional attunement and understanding. I space to restore, heal - find your sense of purpose and direction.
Practice description
I offer a safe, non-judgemental space, a blank canvas on which we develop the map of the work. The initial sessions allow for the narrative, from this we might start to see themes and patterns emerge. My role is to help navigate the map, gently bringing into awareness the patterns and joining the jigsaw pieces together with you to start to see the route ahead.
Some clients come to therapy with a specific goal in mind this can be helpful to work towards and along the route we might see other patterns emerge that are brought into the work. Other clients come with a feeling, possibly anxiety or depression, we might start with exploring the roots of the presenting issues. For other clients it could be looking at moving forward and removing blocks to the life that will bring purpose and fulfilment.
Using an integrative tool box allows for different approaches to presenting issues, each client is an individual and the map develops around you and your goals. Along the route we will regularly review and check in with the direction making sure that we are heading towards the direction of greater awareness and wellbeing.
I am an experienced therapist, working with a wide range of clients with a variety of different reasons for seeking therapy.
My first session
I offer a free 30 minute telephone to explore any questions you might have, explore how therapy works and what has brought you to seeking therapeutic support.
The initial session is 50 minutes, in which we look at the contract with an invitation to add anything that you feel is important. There will be time explore your goals and needs from therapy. It is the space to start when you are ready on the narrative that underpins the reasons that you might be seeking therapy.
I offer sessions weekly or fortnightly.
