About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor, therefore I use different techniques and skills in the work I do in order to meet your needs.
My focus will be on you and understanding your world enabling me to provide you with the right support.
As individuals, we have different needs and expectations, and our time together will give you a chance to share your needs allowing our work to be more effective.
As a counsellor, I offer the time and space for individuals to explore their thoughts and feelings.
I offer online and telephone counselling, which can be daunting but may be an opportunity to learn more about how it works and how it feels to communicate in this manner.
During our time together I will listen, respect and understand what is important to you, we will work together to take a deeper look into the world you come from and make sense of life. We will work to gain clarity and a better understanding of self, enabling you to manage life easier.
If given the opportunity, we will work together to understand the struggles, the challenges and the hurt to gain a better understanding of the life you live and experience.
Practice description
Life has its way of throwing challenges at us, some we understand and some we don't and having to face these challenges and trying to understand what is happening can be very tough, especially when you feel isolated and alone.
As individuals I respect that we have our own approaches, to try and make sense of things, to understand situations, we ponder on them, try and connect and get answers but at times we have the tendency to avoid them.
Each of these approaches can be just as difficult as each other but we find the one that is most manageable for you.
I will work with you to explore your own thoughts, beliefs, feelings and actions and make sense of self increasing your own awareness.
I will work alongside you, to understand your world and work in a manner in order to meet your needs, I respect your autonomy, I respect your way of living and believe in being transparent with how they feel within our sessions.
Taking the first step and reaching out for help is not easy, it takes a lot of strength and courage to take that initial step, but once overcome it can help you feel connected and supported.
Our work requires patience, dedication and commitment, not forgetting the willpower to be transparent and to believe in yourself as well as the work that we will do together.
My first session
Our first session together will allow us the opportunity to understand what to expect from each other, and how the sessions will work
My sessions are 50mins and payment is to be made on each session. We will consider the number of sessions required and make a commitment, however, if you need to cancel, then I request 24hrs notice of any cancellation for the fee to be refundable.
We will review the contact that I will provide that will provide you with the details of what to expect from me as well as allow the opportunity to ask questions, this allows us both to understand our expectations from the sessions
We will look at your needs and explore what brought you to counselling and areas that you may wish to work on including your symptoms, however, I fully understand that this is not always the case as sometimes we do not know, but know enough that we need some support.
It may feel quite nerve-wracking and vulnerable to tell your story, a discomfort at times, but together we can overcome this as working together will allow you to know my way of working.
This session is a chance to see how comfortable you are with me and allow you to ask me any questions about the way I work therefore giving us both a chance to introduce each other.
