About me and my therapy practice
Hello, I'm Darren.
How are you today? No really, how are you???
Life can be challenging, but you don't have to go through it alone. Allow me to support you with an affordable, high-quality counselling service. I believe that everyone should have access to mental health support. That's why I charge a lower-than-average fee and offer further reduced-price counselling for people on benefits and for students.
Drawing from my experience as a pub landlord, bookmaker, and care/support worker, I've developed a genuine, relatable approach. I take pride in quickly building strong, supportive relationships, which are essential for achieving the successful counselling outcome you desire.
I hold a degree in person-centred counselling and am a proud member of the BACP. This ensures that I provide an ethical and safe service that always prioritises your best interests.
I'm experienced as a counsellor in primary and secondary schools, as well as within a not-for-profit charity, counselling both adult males and females in the local community. I have experience supporting individuals dealing with trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, domestic abuse, OCD, bereavement, and work-related challenges, among other issues. Referrals are often from the Police Victim Support Service.
In addition to individual counselling, I run a successful men's support group (face-to-face) and am considering setting up online support groups for both men and women.
Practice description
As a person-centred counsellor, I see the whole person, not just the issues you face. Together, we can explore your past to understand the origins of your challenges (if you wish), and examine how they affect you now, to work towards a better future. You are the expert on yourself, and my role is to sit alongside you, helping you realize your worth and build towards where you want to be. I offer you my honesty, a non-judgemental ear, and ensure you are at the heart of everything we do. Most importantly, I'll listen to you.
I also incorporate other counselling models, such as cognitive behavioural therapy, transactional analysis, and psychodynamic approaches, to achieve the best outcomes for you.
And that's me! If you feel that I'm the right counsellor for you, please don't hesitate to reach out. You can contact me via the email or telephone number provided on this page to arrange an initial 15-minute consultation, free of charge.
I look forward to hearing from you. Darren
My first session
The first session will always be an assessment session. During this time, I will work with you to gain a deep understanding of who you are and the challenges you are facing. This will also help us determine if counselling is the right fit for you. Together, we can explore your goals and aspirations, discussing how we can collaborate to help you become the person you want to be.
