About me and my therapy practice
Finding the right therapist when you have made the decision to embark on your therapeutic journey can seem daunting, it is important that you feel comfortable and supported during your journey and it is my priority to ensure that space is provided.
Life can be challenging, we all experience situations and events from our own frame of reference and sometimes we need support and guidance to navigate these experiences. We are all different in the way we process events and we all need different techniques and theories to work through difficult times, and I endeavour to shape your experience of therapy to suit your needs.
There is no single approach to apply to every clients' situation and I believe being able to adapt the theories used to provide a unique experience for each client is essential to ensure best possible outcomes.
I am an integrative counsellor, this allows me to apply different theoretical approaches depending on my clients needs, using a Person centred approach as the foundations to good therapeutic relationship and integrating Transactional analysis and Cognitive Behavioural therapy to work through the issues presenting.
I can offer a welcoming, comfortable, relaxed non-judgmental space where you can feel safe and at ease to discuss your worries and concerns. Confidentiality and professionalism is of upmost importance and can be assured.
I have experience in working with clients to overcome issues including past trauma, anxiety, depression, self-harm and suicidal ideation. I have supported clients with generalised stress disorder, family and relationship issues, domestic abuse and childhood abuse and general feelings of low mood with nowhere to turn. I also offer couples therapy to help you find answers together.
I also have a special interest in women’s health, including the menopause and pregnancy and birth complications including loss and supporting victims of domestic abuse.
Practice description
Sessions take place in a lovely warm, relaxed and private counselling room close to the centre of Stockport.
I offer face-to-face sessions as well as zoom and telephone if you prefer and I can also accommodate home visits if you struggle to get out but would prefer in-person therapy. I endeavour to be flexible depending on your needs and preferences.
My first session
The first session will be an opportunity for you to share any concerns about counselling and set some expectations/goals about what you want to achieve. We will briefly look at what the main issue is and how we are going to navigate the process of moving on and begin our journey of discovery and healing together.
