About me and my therapy practice
I provide counselling to individuals, either in person in Chudleigh or online. I aim to provide a down-to-earth and approachable form of counselling. Previous clients have described the relationship I built with them as professional but with humour, trust and a genuine connection. I have a particular interest in anxiety (including social anxiety and panic attacks), depression and low self-esteem but my training in integrative counselling allows me to support a wide range of mental health issues. This includes recent work with: anger, addiction, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, relationships, abuse and loss. I also have experience and additional training in working with young adults. I worked with the Youth Enquiry Service in Brixham during the height of Covid and relished the opportunity to support the young adults that came into the service at that time."Ben is a calm and warm person... I would recommend him to anyone." - Male client.
"After over two years of different therapy and counselling, I can easily say these sessions have been the most productive, helpful and enjoyable. The remained professional without feeling forced and I always felt comfortable to express my thoughts and feelings freely." - Female client.
Practice description
I completed a Level 4 Advanced Diploma in Counselling, and I am a Registered Member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP). I work to their ethical guidelines, which includes regular supervision, and I am covered by Holistic Insurance Services. As an integrative counsellor, I have studied a range of approaches, including CBT, Gestalt, Person-centred Therapy and Mindfulness. This allows me to tailor an approach that suits your individual needs.

- ADHD
- Anxiety

My first session
Your choice of therapist is really important and in order to help you make an informed decision, I provide a free initial consultation. This generally takes place online and lasts around 30 minutes and should give you a much clearer picture of who I am and how I work. Should you prefer to have a consultation in person, I will be happy to arrange this, however, in this case there will be a small charge (£10) to cover the room rental.During your first session, I will give more detail about myself and how I work. We'll go through all the practicalities, such as payments, bookings, cancellations, etc. and any questions you might have. You'll then have time to discuss what brings you to counselling and what you'd like to achieve. You can share as much or as little as you're comfortable with, we'll work at a pace that is right for you throughout your counselling. After you consultation, you can take time to consider whether you'd like to continue working with me.
