About me and my therapy practice
I understand the courage it takes to reach out, and as such, I offer you commitment, warmth, acceptance and a confidential space to support you in your journey. I believe that our individual experiences are unique and therefore my focus will be solely on you and your needs.
As a qualified, registered and accredited therapist, it is my hope that together, we can seek to make sense of your experiences that have led you here today, and to help you find your solutions to bring about the changes you wish for.
I work with individuals (adults aged 18 and above) from diverse backgrounds, within private practice. I am experienced in working with a wide range of psychological difficulties including anxiety and stress, depression, grief and loss, abuse, trauma, PTSD, panic attacks, self-esteem, self-harm, life changes, identity and relationship breakdowns.
Whatever your circumstances or difficulties, I offer professional counselling and psychotherapy with sensitivity and without judgement.
Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked for 15 years with neurological and developmental disorders with adults in a variety of Health, End-of-life and Social care settings; and with Children with social, emotional and mental health needs within Specialist Education. This has provided me with experience and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorders, Global Developmental Disabilities, Learning Difficulties, Cerebral Palsy, Parkinson's, Dementia and Alzheimer's Disease.
Practice description
I am fundamentally humanistic in my counselling approach, I believe that everyone has an instinctive drive towards growth and psychological integrity and each of us have the resources within ourselves to do this, provided the conditions are right.
Therapy has the capacity for change, providing you with the conditions and essential elements that can clear the way, for greater well-being, functioning and meaning in your life. The relationship between the counsellor and client is often where these changes begin. Finding the right counsellor that you can relate to, feel listened and heard, is hugely important. Having the right connection will enable for you to be yourself and ultimately get the most from therapy.
I provide both short term and long term counselling and psychotherapy, face-to-face and online (via zoom).
I provide Eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR) treatment, both face-to-face and online. Please find further information below.
