About me and my therapy practice
Are you feeling empty or disconnected? Maybe you would like support improving relationships or dealing with changes in your life? Maybe you are feeling anxious or low, struggling with a loss or a diagnosis. I'm sorry if you are suffering at the moment but whatever is worrying you, I will do my best to help.
I am a warm and friendly fully qualified and accredited Psychotherapist and Coach and a registered member of the BACP (MBACP Accred) and EMDR Association. I believe that our stories form the meaning in our lives and making sense of them is key to the quality of our life. People come to me for many reasons but there is generally a theme of emptiness and disconnection in their stories, no matter how much success they have achieved. I will work with you to take ownership of your story, give agency to act and then helping you to change the relationship you have with yourself and with others.
I studied Psychology and Business at University and then moved into HR / Leadership Coaching. I studied for my Masters qualification whilst working for ITV supporting leaders in TV Productions such as 'This Morning' and' I'm a Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here'. I later took on a managerial role in an international law firm which enabled me to develop my performance coaching skills. However after then being diagnosed with a health condition and seeking therapy myself for support, I realised I wanted to help others in the same way. I studied Therapeutic Counselling for 4 years and during that time I also worked for the NHS counselling clients who have been affected by a cancer diagnosis. I also spent the last 4 years working for a relationship charity (previously Relate) to help people who are struggling with a large array of issues and was under the supervision of a fully trained and experienced Couples and Psychosexual Therapist.
I am also fully trained in EMDR which is a psychotherapy that helps you process and recover from past experiences that are affecting your wellbeing.
Practice description
What my life experience and training has taught me most is that we grow in connection with others. I know how hard it is to look at ourselves from another person’s perspective, to see ourselves in ways that we haven’t before—but also how beneficial and liberating this process can be. It turns out that the fear of our feelings is often scarier than the feelings themselves and I can offer you empathy and a non-judgemental safe confidential space to explore further.
Everyday I work with people like you and help them through the worst times in their lives. I use a combination of Psychotherapy and Coaching using therapeutic evidence-based approaches like Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Transactional Analysis - and I have personal experience that they work and can turn your life around! I have training across a range of Therapies and Coaching techniques that I can use to tailor Therapy to suit your unique needs – no two Therapies look the same.
After working with me I believe you will have a better understanding of your story, who you really are, feel more connected to others, have compassion for yourself and have a sense of your purpose and direction in life. My job is to make myself redundant and I will gear you up with self awareness, mindset, skills and habits required for you to consider me no longer necessary.
Due to my experience I have in depth knowledge of relationship issues, affairs / betrayal, dealing with emotional and physical abuse, mental health diagnoses particularly later stage diagnosis of ADHD, trauma / PTSD, narcissistic abuse, anxiety/ depression, working with adult survivors of abuse and workplace stress.
I offer short and long term Therapy, EMDR and Coaching and I currently work face to face in my private practice in St Ann’s Square in Manchester City Centre.
