About me and my therapy practice
I am a native Londoner and I love this city with its diverse mix of people. However, cities can be stressful and I equally need the healing properties of nature, whether it be in the parks of south east London or the varied countryside of the UK.
I have lived/worked in different parts of the UK and worked extensively abroad which has given me a deep interest and appreciation of other cultures and ways of living. Being a psychotherapist is a third career for me after working in theatre and performance, and a subsequent career as a teacher and lecturer of the performing arts.
Many people feel 'stuck' and unable to move forward. I can help you unpick the reasons for this paralysis and find a way through your difficulties.
Practice description
I trained at The Minster Centre and CPPD Counselling School from which I have an Advanced Diploma in Humanistic Integrative Counselling.
As an integrative therapist, I don't slavishly follow one modality of therapy, but have my own integration of modalities that chime with me.
I utilise a number of therapy approaches, therefore, to create a warm, supportive environment in which clients feel safe. They are then able to work through issues and feelings that they are experiencing, and face up to challenges in their lives.
Recent research into the effectiveness of different therapeutic approaches stresses the importance of the relationship between client and therapist. In our relationship, I will give you focused attention to help, support, and challenge you.
I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and follow the Ethical Framework of the BACP that protects both clients and therapists. I am also registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office.
I offer in person sessions at a variety of South East London locations.
Psychotherapy sessions usually take place weekly and last for 50 minutes.
I also offer online sessions via Zoom if you are more comfortable with meeting online.
Sessions cost £60 for both in person and on line. Concessionary rates available.
CPD courses undertaken in the last two years include:
BPS Approved Certificate in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT) Level 2
Existential Therapy: Helping clients reclaim choice and purpose.
Masculinity and the Dilemma of vulnerability: working affirmatively with male clients.
Working with climate change anxiety.
