About me and my therapy practice

* I am not taking new clients at the moment*

Counselling can offer you the chance to make sense of what isn't working well in your life. Together we might: make sense of how your past is affecting your present, look at how you relate to yourself and others, pay attention to your patterns of thoughts and behaviours, bring awareness to how you experience your body and make links between your thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations. Part of therapy is experimenting in a safe way to make changes to the way that we habitually do things. The first step in any change is to notice what is happening and working with someone else can be invaluable in offering an outside perspective.

Coming to therapy is a big step, and it can feel daunting. I offer a reliable and secure space where we can work together to understand what is going on in your life and how you might go about making changes. I offer both short and long term ways of working. I work during school term times.

An important factor for successful therapy is that you feel comfortable with the therapist that you choose. It's worth seeing a few therapists for a session before you make your choice so that you have a clearer idea of who you are most drawn to. My goal as your therapist is to support you for the time that we journey together.

Practice description

I work online using zoom and by telephone. I offer a free 15 minute phone call to discuss any questions you may have. This is without any obligation to move forward with starting sessions with me. I then suggest that we do one to two assessment sessions to make sense of what is bringing you to therapy, what you hope you will change through the therapy and how I can be of use to you on that journey.

My first session

During the assessment sessions we would discuss what is immediately bringing you to therapy and what your expectations of and needs from therapy are. If it felt appropriate we would explore your personal and family history to provide context for your difficulties. We would discuss different ways of working and what feels right to start off with.
