About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I am a humanistic integrative counsellor and psychotherapist, and believe that everyone’s story is unique to them. My aim is to provide you with a trusting confidential space where you feel safe, supported, and heard so that you feel comfortable to share what is troubling you.
I offer walk and talk counselling, online counselling via Zoom/WhatsApp, and telephone counselling. I also offer reduced fees for students, those on low income or benefits, and trainee counsellors.
I have experience over a wide range of issues some of which include grief/loss, relationship problems, domestic abuse, self-esteem and identity issues, anxiety, depression, self-harm, and PTSD/Trauma.
My qualifications include a Master's in Counselling from York St John University, a Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling from York St John University and a certificate in online and telephone counselling, which is accredited by the BACP. I am a registered member of the BACP abiding by their ethical framework and maintaining continued professional development.
Having come from a background of secondary teaching in the early part of my working life, I have always felt passionate about listening, caring, and supporting people so that they feel able to get to a place where they feel secure moving forward. I also feel that my teaching experience has deepened my empathy and understanding of the pressures many people feel within their working roles, and the struggles and difficulties that come with balancing work and life expectations.
Practice description
In my counselling relationships I believe deeply in creating a warm close connection between myself and the client so that they can feel understood and accepted in a way that enables them to find understanding and acceptance of themselves.
Whatever it is that has led you to this point in your life I want to help you find ways to come to terms with difficult experiences and make sense of any unhelpful patterns/themes so that you feel better equipped to make choices that are right for you moving forward, then life can feel lighter and more manageable.
I will always work to listen to what you need and at a pace that feels comfortable for you, so you feel safe and able to find hope, acceptance and courage to progress forward.
My first session
I offer an initial, free 20 minute zoom or telephone session which gives you an opportunity to talk about what has led you to seek counselling and what you are looking to gain from it. It is also a time for you to ask any questions and for me to tell you more about how I might be able to help you. It is really important that you feel comfortable with your therapist. If we both feel that we can work together then we can look to establish a session slot and agree the frequency and number moving forward.
If you are eligible for a concessionary fee please discuss this with me in this session too.
