About me and my therapy practice
Hi my name is Jo and I am here to provide you with the space to explore why you are feeling the way you do. I have worked with many different people and many different issues. I realise that no two people are the same and I provide a non-judgemental space for you to speak to me in confidence about anything that is bothering you, anything that is stopping you from moving forward and issues from your past and present that might be holding you back. I am a qualified counsellor and work in an integrative way which means I take different models of counselling and tailor the interventions I use to you as an individual client and the issues you may present. I work at your pace and am happy to tailor the amount of sessions to suit the needs of you as my client. I always work in a person centred way and put you, the client at the centre of the work, the focus is always on you. I am a kind-hearted, friendly, empathetic person and this shows through in my work with clients. I will always be honest and will walk alongside you on your journey, wherever that may take us.
Practice description
I am a qualified counsellor and a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I completed my training at Leeds Beckett University. I have undertaken work with clients in recovery from addiction, anxiety, depression, trauma, sexual abuse, low self-esteem, hearing voices and experiencing psychosis. I have worked with people who want to deal with the present and also those who wish to look into the past. I am able to work with clients aged 16 and above. As a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP) I work according to it's Ethical Framework.
I have a comfortable and confidential space in which to meet. I always try to accommodate clients and make sessions accessible for you. I can offer telephone sessions and online sessions if this suits you better. The room is situated on the ground floor of Holmfield Mills in Halifax so there are no issues for anyone with access requirements.
My first session
I would like to invite you to a free telephone session at first, where we can discuss your needs and how you want to work together. We can then work out a time to meet face to face or over zoom for our first session where we will complete a more formal assessment.
