About me and my therapy practice
I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor working in private practice and part-time at the West London Centre for Counselling (WLCC) in Hammersmith. Previously, I worked in the broadcasting industry and the aid sector, including 18 years overseas, so I come to counselling later in life with a wealth of life experience.
At times, life can feel tough, uncertain and a struggle - for all sorts of different reasons - and this can bring to the surface a variety of difficult feelings - that impact our relationships - and how we feel about ourselves - and the world around us.
I provide a a neutral, relaxed and confidential environment - where we explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours together - to help you make better sense of your world. This can help you to feel calmer and make healthier choices - and support you to form and maintain fulfilling relationships and be better equipped to cope and face life’s challenges.
Practice description
I work with people from all walks of life, including young people, students, adults, professionals, people living in the UK from overseas and people experiencing economic hardship. I have worked with both men and women. All are treated with equal respect, dignity and compassion.
The relationship between counsellor and client is fundamental to success. I am caring, empathetic and calm with a sense of humour. I see my clients for who they are and work with them authentically and truthfully with the total belief that they have it in themselves to heal, transform and grow. And I believe it's a collaboration. I'm not a blank wall. We work together.
As an Integrative Counsellor, I draw mostly from the person-centred and psychodynamic approaches, tailoring my skills to address your concerns. I work with you for as long as you need, this might be short-term for a few weeks or long-term for months, with regular reviews to ensure we are focusing on your priorities.
My first session
I'm happy to have a free 20 minute phone or video introductory chat about your needs and answer any questions you may have; we can then arrange an initial session for us to decide together if we are a good fit for your particular needs.
If we decide to work together, I will send you my Counselling and Confidentiality Agreement before the first session; this contains information related to my working practice and fees and cancellation policy.
