For part of the week I work as a person-centred counsellor for the NHS in a GP Practice in York, providing free-at-source care for people who want to speak with a counsellor.
On Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings I offer online sessions, giving you the convenience of your sessions being at home, and saving you having to travel to your counselling. Bear in mind you’ll need a confidential space to work from.
On Wednesday to Friday daytime I offer sessions primarily in-person either at my home, or on a ‘walk-and-talk’ session in Knaresborough. Online sessions can also be accomodated during these times.
Unfortunately, I can’t offer sessions at weekends.
About me and my therapy practice
Are you struggling to make sense of your life at the moment? Perhaps you aren’t feeling like yourself, or are worrying about something that is making you unhappy or anxious?
As a humanistic, person-centred counsellor, I focus on your needs as an individual, recognising that everybody is unique and special. I believe you are the expert on yourself, and with my help, can discover what you need to do to understand yourself and your feelings. Life can be hard to navigate, but I can walk alongside you to help you find your own way.

Practice description
All of my sessions have a common theme and purpose; to enable you to share your thoughts, worries and concerns. Together we will explore them to help you begin the journey towards understanding and resolving them. I offer the following ways of counselling:
In-person counselling sessions
These one-to-one, face-to-face sessions take place in a private room in my home in Knaresborough. Sessions last up to 50 minutes during daytime on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. You can attend on the same day and time each week, or you can book from week to week if you prefer. £55 per session.
'Walk and Talk' counselling sessions
These face-to-face ‘Walk and Talk’, one-to-one sessions take place in various locations around the town of Knaresborough, North Yorkshire. We can select a route and location that suits you while maintaining your privacy. ‘Walk and Talk’ sessions last up to 50 minutes and on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays, weather permitting. You can attend on the same day and time each week, or you can book from week to week if you prefer. £55 per session.
Online video counselling sessions
These one-to-one sessions take place online using MS Teams. I will talk with you online from a private room in my home. Online sessions last up to 50 minutes and can be on Monday to Friday (Monday and Tuesday - evenings only, Friday - no evening session). You can attend on the same day and time each week, or you can book from week to week if you prefer. £55 per session.
Brief counselling sessions
This face-to-face, one-to-one, extended single session takes place in a private room in my home, on a ‘Walk and Talk’ basis (daytime Wednesday, Thursday and Friday), or online (Monday to Friday). This one-off session will be a more solution-focused, workshopping session than my other forms of multi-session counselling, designed to work as a sounding board for you as you try to resolve a more immediate, short-term problem. Brief counselling sessions last up to 60 minutes. £65 per session.
My first session
You can book straight in if you are ready to get started with your counselling, or if you prefer, get in touch to arrange a free 20-minute initial chat.
Free initial chats are usually in-person, but can be online via MS Teams if you prefer. During your free, 20-minute initial chat you will be able to ask questions about how the counselling will work specifically for you, including which of the types of counselling listed above you would prefer, and details such as dates and times for the counselling sessions.
We will have the opportunity to get to know one another a little, and for you to decide if you feel you would like to go ahead and work with me. Once you are happy, we can arrange to start the counselling sessions themselves.
