I am based in Watford, Hertfordshire. I work remotely and face 2 face to satisfy the need of every client. I work from Monday to Friday starting at 9am to 6pm but I am also flexible and we can work together to find a suitable time that best suits us both. I will let you know in advance if I intend to be away on holidays or any unforeseen circumstances and I expect you to do the same. I also offer a 15 minutes initial assessment for free to see if we can work together.
About me and my therapy practice
I work mostly with women in the range from 30-60+yrs old. Whether they are suffering from mental health with anxiety, stress, feeling depressed or mild eating disorder, feeling tired all the time and with lack of sleep. Those who are going through a transition period whether because of a loss/broken relationship, they think they have no purpose in life. I help them find their purpose and identity, help them know they still have a role in society and their is no limit to what they can achieve.
I also support parents who are dealing with children under the autism spectrum with some tools and techniques to make the situation manageable.
I am a fully qualified integrative psychotherapist and I work from a psychodynamic, holistic and relational approach. I also have a certificate on 'understanding autism', 'understanding vulnerable young adults and old persons'. I use the person-centred approach which is helpful from the start of the initial assessment to create a bond with the client and without being judgemental. The psychodynamic approach allows me to know the client's history, any identification with the care givers and any development which the client might be presenting in the now and acting out. The holistic approach helps me to work with the whole being of the client; the mind, body and soul. My work is very relational because I listened with my body, I show compassion, respect and honesty to my client, I am inclusive and very present for them.
Practice description
I work with care givers, parents and siblings who need to support an individual who is under the autism spectrum. It can be difficult for parents to adjust to the way the individual behaves. It is a lifelong condition and their brain works differently. This affects their cognitive behaviour and as such their learning and other mental functions are also affected. Interacting and communicating with others can be very hard for them. I can help the parents with some tools and techniques to be more prepared to support their autistic child.
I also work with those who have lost a loved one whether it is an animal or a person or even something precious to them. A loss can leave a void and this is where I come to offer my help. With some tools and techniques, I help them to navigate through life with their loved ones though they are not present but they still form part of their lives and help them with some tools and techniques to create a new life without the deceased. To be able help them to support themselves.
I am non judgemental, transparent and show empathy towards my client. I find it important to build a bond with them from the first initial assessment so they can feel free to open up to me. I do not have solutions to the issue they bring but I walk by their side and nudge them to be aware and explore what is going on with them so they can find their own solution
My first session
I offer a 15 mins initial assessment to see if the client and myself are compatible to work together. In that first session, I will ask the clients what they want to get out of this counselling session. I would like to know what their expectation is and what is their goal. Talk about a contract between both parties.
