Hi, I am Kim, a counsellor working in Poole Dorset.

I provide humanistic counselling either as a single session, short or long term.

I appreciate that some people work shifts and I can work flexibly with your work pattern.

Counselling does not have to be weekly although it may be helpful in the beginning of your therapy.

About me and my therapy practice

When we hit a bump in our life talking helps. Counselling gives us the space to make sense of things especially at when it all seems to complicated or too much to even know where to start.

As a Humanistic counsellor I provide an empathic warm, safe and confidential space in which you can explore your concerns without judgement.

I work with the day-to-day challenges we often face in an every increasingly busy world such as stress, anxiety, life transitions and  loss. My experience with loss includes significant, sudden or traumatic loss such as the death of a loved one.

It also encompasses other types of loss i.e., life limiting health conditions such as dementia and terminal illness. This includes the impact on those who are carers. I also work Pregnancy and infant loss.

I do not provide advice however I will walk along side you in a collaborative way that endeavours to empower you to find your path and answers, at your own pace and in a way that is unique to you. Perspective is often gained when we work closely.

Humanistic counselling works with our mind, body and soul (or spirit).  This often means working in the present moment, however  you may want to gently explore parts of your life that you are not always fully aware of such as a unconscious repeating pattern of being.

I weave into my practice creative techniques and some basic grounding and mindfulness if you think they could be helpful.  I have an interest in existentialism and what it means for each of us to be human. I also work with adult attachment issues.

I work with young people over 14 years and above, students, including counselling student, adults and older adults.

Practice description

And welcome to my private practice.  I have a room in a discrete location in Poole on High Street which has parking 3-5 minutes walk away.

I also offer walk and talk therapy in a beautiful country park just on the edge of Poole which is easily accessible with ample parking.  I only offer this service during daylight hours and subject our first meeting being face to face or video.  Nature can be a great co-therapist.

I also provide my services via video and telephone. This service attracts a discount.

I occasionally provide home-visits subject to our first session being face-to-face in my rooms or via video.

Some clients benefit from a mix and match approach and I will always offer this option to clients.  You may feel that sometimes a walk will help after a few sessions on line or in a room.

My first session

It's helpful to get to know each other a little before we start.  That first step is the biggest one.

To help you decide if I am potentially a good fit for you, I offer an obligation free 20 minute "hello" call / video.  I appreciate that I may not be the counsellor for you and that is perfectly ok.

If you think a full 50 minute initial conversation may be more beneficial.  I charge £25.00, this is obligation free (concessions available).

Our first formal session will include an assessment and this can be really helpful in setting the scene for what happens next in your therapeutic journey.  This is not set in stone and people sometimes find what brings them to counselling may be different to what they work through. This is quite normal.

Single Session Therapy is available and can help those who really just need to talk their issue through and find a solution.
