About me and my therapy practice
Throughout life, we all experience various challenges and difficulties along the way. Reaching out for support can feel empowering. My role is to support and be alongside you within the process of healing and personal growth. I recognise that each of us is different and draw upon a wide range of theoretical approaches and styles to support children, young people, and adults with various difficulties and concerns. As well as talking I incorporate creativity within the therapeutic space in order to support self-expression, making sense of feelings and behaviours. When working with children and young people I work closely with parents/carers and can also facilitate therapeutic parenting sessions as an alternative.
I have many years experience in working in various types of educational settings, facilitating therapy with young people and adults. I have extensive experience in working with children/young people of various ages with social, emotional difficulties including ASD, ADHD, OCD and Attachment Disorders alongside supporting parents. I also work with adults and young people who have experienced trauma, sexual abuse, neglect, anxiety, low self-esteem, bereavement, body dysmorphia, self-harm and suicidal thoughts.
- I currently facilitate therapy with children, adolescents and adults at The Nesting Space, Hertford and at Stortford Therapy Space, Bishops Stortford
- I also currently facilitate therapy with children, adolescents and parents at The Butterfly Room, Stevenage
Practice description
I am an integrative therapist and offer individual sessions for children, adolescents, adults and parents. At the heart of my work is the therapeutic relationship along with creating a safe, nurturing, confidential space for young people and adults in order to support them to explore their inner world and true self. I am keenly interested in attachment, developmental trauma, neuroscience, and intergenerational complexities. I am a qualified Child, Adolescent and Adult Psychotherapist with an UKCP accredited MA-level qualification.
My first session
Contacting a therapist might be a new experience for you and can initially feel quite daunting. It is important that you find a therapist that you feel is right for you or your child which I am very open to discuss. You are welcome to give me a call and have a conversation to see if you feel I can offer what you need.
All of my work starts with an initial assessment where we can have time together to discuss your reasons for starting therapy whether this is for yourself or your child. I will gather a full history during this time and we can think about your hopes from therapy, taking into consideration your child’s wishes also if the referral is for them. We can then discuss the best way forward.
Sessions are one to one for 50 minutes on the same day and time each week which will be agreed upon at the beginning of our therapeutic journey together. When working with children/young people I offer and facilitate regular reviews with parents/carers.
