About me and my therapy practice

Firstly let me welcome you to my profile and assure you that taking this first step into counselling may be the hardest one you'll take, however your journey is just beginning. I believe that we are all individuals whose wants, needs and desires are all different and therefore I will work with you as a unique person, deserving of counselling as individual as you are. I will place you in the driving seat, as together we navigate the difficulties and problems you face in the present and will stay by your side throughout this journey. There may be times we have to look back at your past and glance at how it affects you in the here and now, but I aim to do this at your own pace, when the time feels right. I feel a strong therapeutic connection is at the core of our work and offering empathy and a space to be yourself without judgement can build on this to create a safe space for you to be your genuine self. I work with the person-centred approach as a foundation to build the relationship and integrate other approaches where appropriate all with your best interests in mind. There is no limitations to the number of sessions and we will frequently check in to review how you feel you're getting on to ensure your needs are being met within the therapeutic space.

Practice description

I will work within your time frame for as long or as few sessions as you feel necessary, however all sessions are 50 minutes long, usually on a weekly basis. This can be face-to-face in Crossgates, Leeds or online via zoom. You can expect to met on whichever platform you choose with a warm smile, empathy and space to be accepted as authentically you.  I will regularly check in with you on how you feel you are progressing and again this is your journey and are in control of how and where your counselling takes you. I have extensive experience working with traumatic bereavement. I also have personal experience of late diagnosis ADHD and the twists and turns of this process and have supported clients in navigating their own diagnosis and feelings associated with this. Be assured that all data is stored in line with current GDPR and I adhere to the standards of the BACP ethical framework regarding confidentiality.

My first session

I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation so you can get a feel of whether we will be the right fit for one another and then if you want to go ahead we can book a single session to start or block book- whatever works best for you. I will spend the first session getting to know you a little, listen to your story of what brought you to seek counselling and we will take the next steps from there. If you would like to book that first conversation, don't hesitate to call or email me- there's no pressure and if I'm not the right counsellor for you I wish you all the best on your journey.
