About me and my therapy practice

My name is Ayesha Loveridge (she/her) and I am a psychotherapist in advanced clinical training. I offer psychotherapy and counselling services for a wide range of emotional issues. My interest in mental health has been long standing and I have worked in this area for over 20 years, with experience on acute mental health wards and in the community. I have completed a BSc in Psychology and have now gone on to work face to face with individuals and couples facing difficulties in their lives. I also co-facilitate therapeutic groups.

I have completed a foundation year and three years of advanced training in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at the Iron Mill College Exeter. I hold an advanced diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychological studies.

I hold professional memberships with UKATA (Contractual Trainee Transactional Analyst) and EATA (trainee member). I am also a registered member of the BACP.

Practice description

My focus is to help individuals heal, energize, and to gain awareness about themselves. Whether you come to me with a specific issue you would like to explore or just a general feeling that things could be better, I will provide a safe and non-judgemental space for us to build a strong therapeutic relationship and work through this together. I offer short, medium and long term work.

Transactional Analysis is a school of psychotherapy that was founded in the late 1950s by Eric Berne and is considered a fundamental therapy for well-being and for helping individuals reach their full potential in life through exploration of both present and past emotional states. The versatile nature of this psychotherapeutic approach combined with practical conceptual tools makes it an effective and individualised process to support you in making the changes you may wish to make in your life.

Through therapy you can:

* Heal from unprocessed trauma

*Identify and change unhelpful patterns in relationship

*Let go of destructive coping mechanisms

*Build emotional resilience and improve self-esteem

*Understand how the past is affecting your present life and choose what changes you would like to make

*Learn how to quieten inner criticism

*Create a happy and healthy life of your choosing.

My experience includes working with adults who have experienced childhood trauma and abuse. The impact these events can have on a person's life are often profound and wide-spread and require a sensitive, compassionate and patient approach. I believe that we achieve the most in therapy when we are able to work together in a way that makes us feel safe and accepted and I work to build this trust with you. This is a unique relationship where you can explore your difficulties free from fear of judgement or rejection. Through making sense of your past in a safe place, you will be able to make different choices for your future.

My first session

I offer a free first session for us to meet each other and get a sense of what you are struggling with and what you would like to gain from therapy.
