About me and my therapy practice
I am a friendly experienced Person-Centred Counsellor. I offer a warm therapeutic service to Children, Young People and Adults, providing a relaxed environment for you to feel safe and comfortable to explore your thoughts and feelings to better understand what is going on for you.
Taking care of our emotional health and wellbeing is important, but at times can be difficult and we can be left feeling overwhelmed, weighed down and at a loss as where to turn. Making the first step is often the biggest one and investing in yourself is very powerful and a sign of strength. Finding the right counsellor can be a very daunting experience. I’m here to listen, support and help you navigate and explore ‘YOU’. We will work collaboratively to identify your strength and make sense of the challenges you are facing by focusing on your self-awareness, building helpful coping strategies that will improve and maintain wellness.
Practice description
I work in an integrative way with clients, meaning I use my core humanistic approach which is less directive. My counselling style is open to your unique experiences and working in this way will allow you to explore your experiences in the present but also look at how your past may have influenced your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. I believe you are the expert and given the right conditions you can better understand yourself, develop, grow and find a way to fulfil your potential.
My commitment to you is to provide a professional, confidential counselling service in a safe, non-judgemental, compassionate environment. I’m a naturally caring and empathic person who can build good therapeutic relationships. I will enable and empower you to regain your sense of self by supporting you to develop better self- worth and help you find ways to make positive change in your life.
My area of interest is Neurodiversity, I have trained with the National Autistic Society UK to enhance my understanding of the unique strengths and challenges individuals experience and the factors, impact and differences people may face through processing information, communicating, sensory, and managing stress and anxiety. This will enable me to recognise, respond and provide an effective approach to children, young people and adults whilst offering support to the families.
I am a fully trained clinical supervisor. I can offer supervision to trainee counsellors, counsellors, teachers, social workers and other professionals. I provide a safe, supportive space to enable you to explore, reflect, learn and develop your practice.
My first session
I like to start with a free telephone call to get a better idea of what challenges you are facing and what you might be looking for from therapy. I will also be happy to answer any questions you may have about how I work. If you feel that we are a good fit to work together and you are then happy to go ahead with counselling sessions, I will email you a contract of ways of working together before we meet and then go through it during our first assessment session. Please text or email me with your details if you would like me to call you back.
