About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Katy - welcome to my page!
I’m a fully qualified Psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means that I work to the high standards of the BACP’s Ethical Framework.
I practice as a Person-Centred Experiential Psychotherapist, which means that I work in a non-judgemental way to meet my clients' therapeutic needs. I encourage an initial assessment and planning process, to understand what you would like to achieve and agree on a treatment plan to look at areas we will work together on. As therapy progresses, we will review our work to establish if we are meeting your therapeutic goals. I also use clinical measuring tools as a way to monitor progress in therapy.
I am a strong advocate of creativity, having worked in the arts as a curator in galleries before qualifying as a therapist. I provide talking therapy, however, we can utilize additional creative mediums, such as drawing or writing which helps to process difficult feelings and make deeper connections to improve your self-awareness and mental health. These mediums can be effectively achieved both online and face-to-face.

This has included working with presentations of panic, self-criticism, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, sexual assault, abuse, sexuality, relationships and, difficulties related to addiction and bereavement.
As an ally, I operate a LGBTQ-POC, neurodivergence friendly and culturally sensitive practice. To ensure this, I regularly engage in relevant training and challenging my practice through my supervision and peer groups.
My first session
There are so many reasons for seeking therapy and in your first session we will discuss your difficulties and identify your reasons for seeking therapy and your goals. Research has revealed that the therapeutic relationship is the cornerstone of progression in therapy. So it’s important to select a therapist that you can connect with to create a safe space to work through your presenting issues.
I provide a 20 minute free initial phone call, so that I can answer any questions or concerns and you can judge if you feel that we are a good fit to work together.
