About me and my therapy practice
Hello, my name is Katy - welcome to my page!
It takes courage to seek support and advocate for yourself. If you are struggling, feeling stuck, and need help to make changes in your life. There is no issue too big or too small for us to tackle in therapy. Your commitment and investment in yourself through therapy can be transformative. It can help you to make radical and positive steps for your mental health and well-being.
In our sessions, I will provide a non-judgemental safe-space to work together on the issues that are causing you distress and need further attention. I will support you to approach the sessions at your own pace when working towards your therapeutic goals. Therapy can help to build your resilience, reconnect with yourself and others, and help to find effective coping strategies.
I work with both adults and young people as a Person-Centred Psychotherapist or Counsellor. I have varied experience working in specialist organisations, community settings, and EAP. I also provide counselling in primary and secondary schools with children and young people.
Practice description
I’m a fully qualified Psychotherapist and registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy. I work to the high standards of the BACP’s Ethical Framework.
I am experienced in working with a range of presenting issues, including anxiety, depression, trauma, overwhelm, loneliness, low self-esteem, and low confidence. I have specialist knowledge and experience in working with neurodivergent groups, including ASD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and Dyspraxia. I have worked extensively with presentations of panic, self-criticism, suicidal ideation, self-harm, sexual assault, abuse, sexuality, relationships and, difficulties related to addiction and bereavement.
I am a strong advocate of creativity, having worked in the arts before qualifying as a therapist. I provide talking therapy, however, I am open to the use of drawing or writing, to help you to process particularly difficult feelings and make deeper connections. I have found this particularly effective when working with trauma.
As an ally, I operate an LGBTQ-POC, neurodivergence-supportive, and culturally sensitive practice. To ensure this, I regularly engage in relevant training, to challenge and develop my practice through my supervision and peer groups.
