About me and my therapy practice
I’m an Accredited qualified and registered psychodynamic psychotherapist working in West Sussex. I offer private short-term and open-ended therapy – face-to-face or on-line – for adults who are seeking support for a wide variety of issues. My experience is varied and includes working within the NHS, University Counselling and Private Clinics.
Being able to explore emotional problems with an experienced and empathetic therapist can bring enormous positive change.
Difficulties in our everyday life often present as anxiety, sadness or depression, anger or shame. These difficulties are often related to issues which we may not be aware of; often located in the past, particularly in childhood.
And sometimes, something unexpected may have happened in the present such as bereavement, an accident or divorce.
A trained professional helps you talk and explore these issues. Being able to be ‘curious’ about the cause and effect of traumatic experiences whilst in a safe therapeutic space can bring enormous relief.
Practice description
I always suggest an initial consultation. We will meet and explore if and how therapy might be helpful. At this initial consultation we can discuss what has brought you to therapy, your presenting problems and take a brief look at your personal history. This will enable me to gain insight into the nature of underlying conflicts. This initial consultation will last one hour and will preferably be face to face at my clinic in Midhurst or alternatively using Zoom.
Therapy is a collaborative process, and there is no commitment to ongoing work at this stage. If you decide to continue with regular therapy, we can then mutually agree a regular day and time each week, in person or online.
My first session
Our first session is a way to get to know each other and is strictly private and confidential.
I adhere to the BACP Ethical Framework; the core principles are: being trustworthy and honoring the trust placed in the practitioner, respecting the client's right to be self-governing with a commitment to promoting the client's wellbeing.
