About me and my therapy practice
Hi, I'm Jen, an eating disorder counsellor, coach and trainer. I support people to find freedom and self acceptance from distress related to eating, food, weight and body image issues. I have a particular interest in working with neurodivergent clients who struggle with these issues and I offer a weight neutral and neuro-affirmative approach to therapy and coaching.
In all areas of my work I meet people where they are and support them to find their own solutions so they can live the life they choose.
Common themes I support people with are low self confidence, low self-esteem, anxiety, imposter syndrome and shame, never feeling good enough and feeling stuck.
As well as talking, my approach involves creative exercises so we can explore where you are, where you want to be, and how we can bridge that gap. I often offer information and education around eating disorders, body image and neurodivergence so you can feel empowered with practical skills and knowledge to support you in reaching your goals and developing a healthy relationship with food and your body.
Practice description
I take a humanistic approach to therapy and coaching. I am a trained integrative psychotherapist and work from a pluralistic framework. This means I value the relationship between us and see our work as a collaboration between us. I use research to inform the way I practice but I also recognise every person is unique and deserves a personalised approach. You know yourself better than anyone so I trust you to guide us as we find an approach that feels right for you by taking into account your individual needs, preferences and goals.
I follow the ethical guidelines of the BACP, I have regular supervision, and I engage in ongoing continuing professional and personal development.
My first session
I welcome self referrals through email or through the contact form on my website. I am usually unavailable to take phone calls unless pre-arranged so please email or leave a voicemail with your contact details and I will get back to you with availability for an initial exploratory call.
I offer a free 30-minute exploratory call for you to find out more about the way I work and see if you might like to work with me.
If you want to go ahead, I'll send you my welcome pack and invite you to book a first session where we will explore your reasons for seeking therapy now and how I might be able to help you. The first session is normally 50mins and charged at my standard rate of £60, although longer sessions are available if desired.
