About me and my therapy practice

Hi, I'm Emily, an accredited Psychotherapist, offering you a calm, down to earth space to share what is going on for you, with no judgement whatsoever.

Whether you want to feel more like yourself again, work through a particular challenge you are experiencing or you aren’t sure where to start but know that something needs to change; I am here to help you.

Together we will work on creating an awareness and understanding of your current challenges and experiences, building tools that you can use to help yourself in day-to-day life.

My approach: As an Integrative Psychotherapist, the approaches I draw upon include person-centered, psychodynamic (how the past impacts the present) and emotion-focused. I will tailor my approach to meet your needs, working at a pace that suits you. There is never just one way to do things in counselling, whether we talk things through or use exercises along the way, we will work together to find the best way forwards for you!

What I can help you with: Common areas of counselling I help people work through include: Anxiety, depression, feeling hopeless, panic attacks, confidence issues, feelings of not coping, relationship difficulties, grief and bereavement, work-related stress, financial worries, traumatic experiences, feeling disconnected & more.

I also specialise in supporting sportspeople, support staff and their families. Being involved in sport can present unique challenges, get in touch to see how I can help you navigate these.

Practice description

I offer online sessions via zoom, as well as in person counselling in Lymm, Cheshire.

I offer an initial phone call to see if we are the right fit for each other, no charge and no obligation.

I am an accredited member of the BACP, adhering to their ethical principles. I hold the below qualifications & undertake regular training to ensure my practice is up to date:

· MA Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy at University of Central Lancashire - Distinction

· Msc Applied Sport Psychology at Cardiff Metropolitan University- Distinction

· BA (hons) Sport, Exercise & Physical Activity at Durham University - 2:1

My first session

It is important to find the right therapist for you; I offer a free initial phone call to see if we are the right fit for each other.

Our first session is then a chance to get to know each other a little and begin to understand what has brought you to therapy. It can be daunting coming to therapy and there is no expectation to ‘get it all out there’ in the first session. We will take it at an easy pace. I will send you a therapy agreement in advance and we will go through this together, as well as giving you an opportunity to understand what you can expect from me and our work together.
