I work in both York city centre and Wheldrake. Currently I have availability in Wheldrake during the day. Online therapy is also an option.
About me and my therapy practice
There are many reasons why people come to therapy. It may be a major life crisis or a specific issue, or it may be that you are struggling with day-to-day life and would value someone to talk to and gain clarity. I understand that asking for help can be daunting; I also know that seeking counselling may be the first (big!) step to a happier future. I will work at your pace and the work we do will be collaborative. I believe that the relationship between us (me, the counsellor and you, the client) is crucial to successful therapy and I will strive to build a safe and trusting environment in which you feel able to open up.
Practice description
I will be curious about your early relationships and experiences – but understand that some people may want to focus more on the ‘here and now’ issues whilst others may wish to focus on difficult past experiences. I am open to working in creative ways or by simply talking. Both are fine and can be powerful and healing experiences.
I work in Wheldrake which is probably best accessed by car. Online counselling is also an option, however, my preference is face-to-face as I enjoy building up a relationship which I find is more effective in person. My counselling style is warm and friendly, yet professional. I will gently challenge you if needed and will regularly check to see if you are feeling the benefit of our work together.
Sessions cost £50 and last an hour.
My first session
I will offer you a free telephone consultation to check that we are right for each other. You will then be invited for your first counselling session where we will explore your goals and we will look at the counsellor/client contract so that we both know what to expect from counselling.

My work is with clients of different ages and genders who bring a wide range of issues to talk about. I have experience of working with adults and teens who are neurodivergent and we can usually work together to accommodate any specific needs that would make the counselling process more comfortable.
