Availability

Walk and Talk counselling, Outdoor therapy, Nature therapy in the Godalming and Haslemere area

I currently have availability on Tuesday and Wednesday morning for outdoor therapy. Please take a look at my other listing for face to face (in a room) and online therapy.

Outdoor Sessions take place on Tuesday and Wednesday in Godalming at Broadwater Park and in Brook (a village between Godalming and Haslemere). I walk with adults 18 and over.

About me and my therapy practice

Why therapy outdoors? I started offering walk and talk therapy in the pandemic and was pleasantly surprised by how much clients benefited from the environment as well as the therapy.

Taking therapy outdoors has been shown to lower anxiety, stress and depression and enhance a sense of well-being. Walking relieves tension and stimulates blood flow to the brain, enabling you to think and problem solve more freely and creatively.

You will set the pace and we can stop and take breaks whenever you need to. Both walks have accessible toilets. Sessions may be spent on the move, or you may prefer to find a quiet spot to talk.

If the weather is really bad we can reschedule to online or face to face sessions.

Practice description

I am passionate about the difference counselling can make and have seen countless clients finish our work together in a better place than they started.

Some of the areas that I specialise in are:

Working with neurodiverse clients - in particular Autism and ADHD. I support people who have been recently diagnosed, are seeking a diagnosis or are a parent or child of someone who is neurodiverse.

Working with people who are feeling overwhelmed and struggling with anxiety, panic attacks and stress.

Supporting people who have had difficult or traumatic experiences, either in childhood or in adult life.

Other areas I have experience in include : depression, grief, trans issues, relationships, complex family dynamics, self-esteem, health issues (esp. coping with long term health conditions) and identity issues.

My first session

You need to be confident that I’m the right counsellor for you. A free 20-minute initial consultation – by Zoom or phone call – is a chance for you to tell me what you’re hoping to get from therapy. I’ll also tell you more about how I work and how I can help you.

If you would like to find out more, we can arrange an initial  session outdoors, so you can experience the location and get an idea of what outdoor therapy might be able to offer you.

After that you have the chance to decide if outdoor therapy and/or I am the right person for you to work with. I also work face to face and online.

I'd love to hear from you so do get in touch. If you'd like to find out more about me you can also go to my website : www.silvacounselling.co.uk (clickable at the top of the page).

I am available for counselling sessions daytime and evening.

I currently have availability on Tuesday and Wednesdays in the daytime and early evening.

About me and my therapy practice

I specialise in anxiety, ADHD, autism and trauma. As a neurodiverse person from a neurodiverse family, I use my personal experience alongside specialist training to support you on your journey.

Counselling for autism. Counselling for ADHD
Whether you were diagnosed as a child or have had a recent adult autism or ADHD diagnosis and need support in coming to terms with it, or you suspect you may have ADHD or autism – I can support you in exploring the physical, social and emotional impacts, the cost and also the potential for growth and change.

Counselling for anxiety
I also support people who have issues with anxiety, panic attacks, phobias and high levels of stress and worry.

Counselling for trauma
I work with those who are dealing with the effect of a traumatic event or past experiences. I use my counselling skills and also body-based training to support you in exploring, releasing and healing your past.

Practice description

I am an approachable and caring therapist keen to offer you a safe place for you to explore your feelings. I will support you as you find ways to ease the pain you are in and begin to experience life with more freedom and choices. I work on understanding you as a whole person, getting to grips with what's really going on and working with you to find a better way forward.

I take counselling and mental health very seriously (in fact I’m a bit of a nerd and I’m constantly learning). But I like to think I don’t take myself too seriously. There’s no judgement here. Roaring with laughter can happen in a counselling room, just as swearing and crying can. All thoughts and emotions are welcome!

In addition to my private work, I have counselled clients for the NHS on a wide range of issues.

My first session

You need to be confident that I’m the right counsellor for you. A free 20-minute initial consultation – by zoom or phone call – is a chance for you to tell me what you’re hoping to get from therapy and ask any initial questions. I’ll also tell you more about how I work and how I can support you.

If you choose to book a first session after this call then I will send you a counselling agreement and we will go through this together in the first part of the session.

I will ask you a bit more about what brings you to counselling and you will be able to ask any questions you have. Rest assured that if you feel nervous, that is completely normal! It takes time to feel relaxed speaking openly with someone new and I will try to make sure the first session is as comfortable as possible for you.
