About me and my therapy practice
As a fully qualified counsellor, I specialise in working outdoors and passionately believe in the positive benefits of exercise and being outdoors for mental health. I offer walk and talk counselling sessions and I am also able to offer face to face, online or telephone sessions from a private therapy room, as required.
I have been in the caring profession in one way or another throughout my working life, beginning with nursing and midwifery and I bring all this experience into my counselling. I also bring an enthusiasm for the outdoors working as a professional gardener and an awareness of all the benefits to mental and physical health that the outdoors provides.
My qualifications include a masters degree in counselling from York St John university, which involved research on walk and talk counselling. I am an accredited member of the BACP abiding by their ethical framework and maintaining continued professional development.
I have had experience of working with a wide range of mental health difficulties including depression, anxiety, grief, loss, stress, loneliness, relationship difficulties and difficulty coping with significant life events, to name but a few. I also have a particular interest in difficulties associated with the menopause.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor in the volunteer sector.

I will listen without judgement as I try to gain understanding of your life experience. I will be open and honest with you and support you to find your own best way forward as you are the expert in your life experience. Counselling is a process of gaining a better understanding of yourself that will enable you to make choices and feel more freedom to find ways to move forward. My first session
