About me and my therapy practice
I am an integrative counsellor and psychotherapist working with both individuals and couples.
Individual therapy
I offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgemental space in which, together, we can explore and untangle difficulties in your life so that you can begin to make changes and find a way forward.
I also believe deeply in our resilience as human beings, and our ability to heal in the right environment with the right support. I focus on collaborating with my clients, empowering them, ensuring they always feel safe.
I am trained as an integrative psychotherapist meaning I hold in mind and draw upon different theories depending on what I feel would benefit each individual client. The main theories I integrate in my practice are: psychodynamic theories, specifically Object Relations and Attachment Theory, Gestalt and Transactional Analysis.
My approach is also relational which means that along with the issues you bring to explore in therapy, I’m interested in the relationship between us, as well as the ways in which you relate to yourself and others in your life. Our relationship can provide us with valuable insight into unconscious patterns of thinking and behaviour so they can be understood and challenged.
Relationship/Couples therapy
Relationship or couples therapy provides a different kind of thinking space, one that attends to damaged communication, and works to bring about the relief of being heard. The therapeutic space created offers you the opportunity to develop a better understanding of yourself and your partner. It allows you to explore what might be going on beneath the difficulties in your relationship.
With both of you having a clearer understanding of yourselves and the difficulties in your relationship, there is the possibility for real change.
I offer both long-term and brief therapy for couples depending on your specific circumstances and needs.
Practice description
I offer long, medium and short-term counselling and psychotherapy in Stroud . I regularly see a confidential clinical supervisor to support my work and have full professional insurance.
My first session
It is completely natural to feel some apprehension, fear, anxiety, or discomfort when considering starting therapy.
Our first session will be an opportunity for you to ask any questions you may have about the process and my way of working. I will also ask you to go into a bit more detail about why you’ve decided to come to see me and what you hope to get out of it.
Importantly, the first session is your opportunity to get a sense of whether or not you are comfortable with me and would like to work with me. There is no obligation.
If we agree to work together, sessions are then held weekly for 50 minutes.
