About me and my therapy practice
Hello, thank you for taking time to look at my profile, my name is Jon and I offer a kind, caring, compassionate counselling service, free from judgment. I am a fully qualified Counsellor with a Professional Diploma in Psychotherapeutic Counselling and as a member of the BACP, I follow their Ethical Framework, which underpins what I offer, that is a safe and confidential space for you to explore your thoughts, feelings, behaviours and experiences. I decided to become a Counsellor after years of working in industry and running my own business because I recognised we all need and value help from time to time.Practice description
I chose to train as an integrative practitioner as this gives me the advantage of being able to work in a variety of different ways. I believe that combining the many valuable ideas and techniques developed from the different approaches of Therapeutic Counselling, such as, Person-Centred, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapies (CBT), means that I am better able to meet your personal needs and adjust my approach as the work progresses, or as different issues are encountered.
Talking about issues that are bothering you can be difficult at times, especially to those close to you. You may feel that you don’t want to burden them, or they just don’t understand, you could be left feeling you have no one to turn to. This is where Counselling can give you that opportunity to explore whatever it is you are feeling at a pace that suits you in a safe, confidential, non-judgemental environment. A good starting point is to find out, not what is wrong with you but what has happened to you.
Making the first step to see a counsellor can feel like a daunting task and I will do my best to help you feel at ease, so you feel comfortable sharing the reasons that brought you to therapy. Whether you are experiencing past or present trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship problems, suffering from some form of abuse or even if you are feeling a bit down and just need someone to talk to. I will do my best to help you see that healing, positive growth and change can be accessed now, in this present moment. Together we can explore your feelings and life experiences, giving you a greater understanding of yourself that will hopefully help you feel you are living a fuller more rewarding life.
My first session
I offer a free 30-minute session to provide an opportunity for us to meet each other. We can then discuss what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to achieve from it. This session also offers the opportunity for us both to decide if we are going to be comfortable working together.
To arrange this, simply, call, text or email and I will reply to your enquiry within 24 hours. We can arrange to meet either face-to-face (in my private counselling room from my house, with parking and easy access), or online via Zoom or telephone.
After our first consultation, I then offer one hour counselling sessions which can be weekly, fortnightly or whatever suits your individual needs.
