About me and my therapy practice
Looking for a counsellor and asking for help can feel daunting, and it is important to find the right counsellor for you.
Whatever you are going through right now or have been through in the past, I can offer you a warm, caring and confidential place where you can safely explore your thoughts and feelings without fear of being judged.
I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is crucial to the process of therapy, and together we can explore your thoughts and feelings at your own pace, so you feel listened to and comfortable in our sessions.
I will not lead or advise you but encourage you to explore your lived experiences and emotions to help you find a better way forward.
I believe everyone is unique and I therefore adapt my approach according to your needs and what works best for you.
Working with couples, I will ensure that your relationship remains at the heart of our sessions
Practice description
Depending on your requirements, I offer weekly or fortnightly sessions, usually at the same time every week, and each session will last up to 60 minutes. The amount of sessions you attend depends entirely on you and your goals. Some people benefit from short term support to tackle a specific issue or to help them through a time of crisis. Some people prefer long term work and support.
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute telephone consultation enabling you to ask any questions you may have and to help you decide whether you feel I may be the right counsellor for you. I would ask you about yourself, your background and the issue(s) that bring you to seek help, to establish how I might help you.
You are under no obligation to continue working with me but if you feel I am the right person, we can discuss a regular session time.

About me and my therapy practice
We all face challenges in our lives, but sometimes these can leave us feeling vulnerable and overwhelmed, and talking them through in a caring, confidential and calm space with someone separate form other areas in our life can help.
I can offer you a warm and caring space where you can explore things that matter to you without judgment or advice, but with empathy and acceptance of your lived experiences. Having the opportunity to be listened to, and to look at things from a different perspective can help to make more positive life decisions and enable us to make the changes we would like to see.
Counselling can help you cope with mental health conditions, such as depression or anxiety; it can help you work through a difficult life event, such as a bereavement, a relationship breakdown or work-related stress; it can help you work through difficult emotions such as low self-esteem or anger; and emotionally and psychologically traumatic events.
Practice description
Each counselling session lasts up to 60 minutes, and usually takes place at the same time each week.
It is entirely up to you how long you would like to attend counselling for. Some people only need a few sessions to address a specific issue or for support during a time of crisis, whilst others want to achieve more profound changes and attend longer term.
Since each person is unique, I work at your pace with whatever issues you wish to address in each session, without judgment or giving advice, offering you instead the space to explore and make sense of your experiences, yourself and your relationships.
I believe the therapeutic relationship is at the core of the counselling process, it is important that you feel you have chosen the right counsellor for you. During counselling sessions, difficult or painful emotions may surface, and it is therefore vital you feel comfortable and safe with the person you choose.
There is never any expectation to talk about anything unless you feel ready to.
Working with couples, your relationship will be at the heart of our sessions, and I will help both of you explore your own unique experiences, histories and expectations you bring into your relationship, and understand the relationship's needs and how these can be met.
My first session
Taking the decision to come to therapy can feel daunting and you might have questions around this process and what to expect. I offer a free, initial 15-minute consultation over the phone where you can ask any questions you might have, we can explore what brings you to therapy and how we may work together, should you wish to continue working with me.
Prior to our first session, I will email you my counselling contract and client intake form, which we will discuss in our first session. We will also explore your expectations and goals for change you may have.
