I am currently taking on new clients - in-person in London on Tuesdays, and online at other times during the week.
About me and my therapy practice
I am a Psychosynthesis Psychotherapeutic Counsellor, with a Postgraduate Diploma in Psychosynthesis Counselling, working in private practice online, and in Margate and London. I work primarily with women and LGBTQIA+ individuals on issues around sexuality, trauma, relationships, identity (encompassing purpose, meaning, and life transitions), anxiety and depression, professional paths, self-esteem and body issues. My aim is to help you connect with who you really are - I offer a compassionate and empathic environment in which to creatively explore difficulties as well as your ambitions and dreams.
My primary modality, Psychosynthesis, goes beyond where many therapies finish - we will not only explore “what’s wrong”, but also understand where you are, where you want to be and how to get there. My aim is to guide you to connect to your own innate health, to discover your true potential and become all that you are capable of being. The therapy is tailored to your individual needs and I draw on a range of theoretical approaches, as well as techniques from creative therapies, guided imagery, mindfulness, journaling, and embodied techniques to help you achieve awareness, emotional balance and freedom. My approach is informed by my additional training in somatic (body-related) disciplines - we will be paying attention to what is happening in your body, alongside your feelings, thoughts, imagination, and spirit.
Practice description
I provide a safe, supportive, non-judgemental, and collaborative space for you to slow down, find your resources and connect with yourself, through telling your story and exploring tools to calm, protect and care for yourself. I can help you understand how your past and present are linked to the symptoms, issues or longings that have led you to seek therapy. This can give you a deeper experience of who you are, and where you really want to go in life.
I am queer, LGBTQ+ affirmative, poly and kink knowledgeable, and trauma-informed. I happily work with people who identify as diverse in their sexuality, gender and/or relationship styles. I offer in-person and online counselling for individuals and couples.
My first session
We will typically have a brief chat by phone to talk about what's bringing you to counselling and arrange our first session. Before your session, I will email you a confirmation of our session date and time, instructions for joining or directions to my therapy space, plus my terms and conditions and consent form to read. The first session is 50 minutes, where we will cover any questions you have on the forms, and continue the conversation - beginning to understand the major themes of your background and what your goals might be for counselling. A feeling of fit between you and your therapist is so important - this session enables both of us to get to know one another and decide on next steps. If we decide to work together, we will find a regular time each week to meet, and I will ask for 48 hours notice for any cancellation. We'd normally agree an initial therapy contract 5 more sessions and then take some time to assess whether our work is moving in the direction you would like.
