About me and my therapy practice

Welcome! I’m Jackie, a dedicated, person-centred therapist blending counselling, psychology, and coaching to help you rediscover strengths and navigate life’s challenges. My approach is rooted in empathy, respect, and collaboration, ensuring each session fits your unique needs.

Who I Am as a Therapist

My practice centers on person-centred counselling, with empathy and unconditional positive regard. I work pluralistically, using diverse techniques to support you—whether it’s fostering self-understanding, addressing specific issues, or achieving goals. With a background in psychology, I help you understand the connections between thoughts, emotions, and behaviors, while my coaching experience brings practical tools for stress management and communication.

What You Can Expect in Our Sessions

I aim to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you feel heard and accepted. Together, we’ll explore insights to foster growth and self-acceptance, adapting each session to your pace and preferences. For some, our work may focus on self-awareness, while for others, it might be more solution-focused. My role is to support, not direct, helping you find and follow the path that’s right for you.

Balancing Support and Progress

Our journey balances support with progress at a pace that suits you. Some days may call for reflection, while others involve moving forward. You set the rhythm, and I adapt to your needs. I offer both online and in-person sessions, providing flexibility and connection that suit your schedule.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

Beginning therapy is significant, and I’m here to answer questions and explore whether this path aligns with your needs. Whether facing specific challenges or seeking a supportive space, I’m here to experience this with you, with empathy and understanding.

I offer in-person or online sessions, including a free 30-minute consultation. Face-to-face sessions are available in Worsley M28 and Whitefield/Radcliffe M26, with free parking at both locations

Practice description

I hold an Advanced Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling, a Master's in Organisational Psychology, and certifications in Coaching and Pluralistic Counselling and Psychotherapy. These qualifications enable me to integrate evidence-based theory and practice into my work, ensuring that I bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to my counselling practice. I also regularly engage in ongoing learning to enhance the services I offer.

My core therapeutic approach is person-centered, meaning that you are at the heart of our work together. Rather than directing or leading, I will collaborate with you to explore your concerns, understand your needs, and support you as you work towards any changes or goals you may set.

In addition, I offer pluralistic therapy, a flexible and collaborative approach that tailors treatment by drawing from various therapeutic models to suit your unique needs and preferences. For example, I may integrate techniques such as:

Rewind therapy for single-session trauma work,

Transactional analysis for exploring relationships,

Attachment theory and mindfulness, among others.

I have extensive experience working with adults from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and age groups, helping clients navigate a variety of challenges. My experience includes working with both neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals, as well as supporting members of the emergency services, including the police and armed forces (both active and veterans).

Each session we have will be unique to you, focused on what matters most to you, and progressing at a pace that suits you. When appropriate, I can integrate counselling with outcome-focused coaching to support any specific goals or objectives we agree on. I also specialize in helping clients explore personality and behavioral preferences, particularly in the context of improving both professional and personal relationships.

My first session

I work with adults of all ages just like you who at any time are experiencing difficulties that often disrupt and disturb well-being, relationships, work, leisure, and life in general.

I offer a free half-hour introductory session where we can chat about your needs and explore if working with me feels right for you. Counselling and coaching needs to be a supportive and effective relationship and so it needs to feel right. Having the opportunity to talk it through before you commit will ensure you are making the best choice for you based on what you need.

In our first counseling session, we will get to know each other, start to build our therapeutic relationship, and begin to explore your aims in therapy with what you are bringing to the session.

My first session

In our first session together, my main focus is to create a space where you feel safe, heard, and supported. I work in a person-centred way, which means that the session will be led by you and what you feel comfortable sharing. I’m here to listen and to help you explore what’s going on for you at your own pace, without any judgment.

I also use a pluralistic approach, meaning that we can draw on different tools and techniques depending on what works best for you. I bring in my background in psychology, coaching, and counselling to look at things from a holistic perspective, considering what’s most helpful for you as an individual.

In our first session, we’ll likely spend time getting to know each other, understanding what brings you to counselling, and discussing your goals. Together, we’ll explore the best way forward and create a plan that feels right for you. My goal is always to empower you and make sure you feel supported throughout the process.
