About me and my therapy practice
I've worked in NHS GP surgeries, charities and private counselling services for 9 years, supporting adults and young adults too. I have also worked in organisations supporting women and girls who have experienced abuse and violence.
As well as running my private practice, I am a manager and senior counsellor at EASE Wellbeing talking therapy service.
Practice description
You don’t have to pretend everything is okay, therapy is a confidential space where you can be yourself and speak openly. The types of concerns people come to me about relates to: body image and self-worth, sexual abuse and trauma, relationship difficulties, work related stress, loss and loneliness, low mood, anxiety and health related concerns. Whether you have a specific issue or a general sense that life is a struggle, therapy can help.
My aim is to increase self-understanding of your feelings, experiences and behaviours that you find difficult and want to change. Through therapy you can get to a place where life is meaningful and enjoyable again and you feel empowered to be able to face life's up and downs.
I work at your pace and offer both short and long term support to suit your needs. I ask that you pay on a weekly basis in advance of our session. I can accept bi-weekly/ monthly payments if that works best for you.
Testimonials:
"It's been positive to talk to Lauren who has allowed me to look at the way I think and help me change for the better"
"I had a really positive experience and felt comfortable with Lauren. I didn't feel judged, just very supported."
My first session
I offer a free 15 minute phone call to allow you to get a sense of who I am and ask any questions you have before booking an initial consultation with me.
Our initial session is 50 minutes. The main purpose of this session is for you to get a sense of what it would be like working with me and to decide if you'd like to continue into regular therapy. There is no obligation to continue into therapy after, it is your choice.
During this session we will discuss what is going on for you in your life now and in general that has led you to seek support. It is also consider what you would like therapy to help you with and where you want to get to in life.
You may have a specific 'thing' you want to address and in this first session we can start to think about how we will focus on this specific concern. However, you do not need a specific reason or focus to make use of therapy, this is something we can unpack and discover overtime.
