About me and my therapy practice
I am an experienced Psychotherapist and have helped many adults and young people from diverse backgrounds. I have over 9 years of experience in the mental health sector having worked in various charities, GP surgeries and private counselling services. I've also been the manager of a private counselling service, ensuring that the therapy provided by our psychotherapists and counsellors have been effective and of the highest standard.
I've worked in organisations supporting women and girls who have experienced abuse and violence. My training and experience in trauma-informed care allow me to work holistically to explore how someones past experiences shape their current situations and sense of self. I foster empowerment and resilience in my clients with a calm, warm and empathic approach to face life difficulties. I drawn on a range of modalities including existential, phenomenological, person centered, and trauma-informed therapy. Importantly I adapt the way we can work together to suit your needs and goals of therapy.
Practice description
You don’t have to pretend everything is okay, therapy is a confidential space where you can be yourself and speak openly. The types of concerns people come to me about relates to: body image and self-worth, sexual abuse and trauma, relationship difficulties, work related stress, loss and loneliness, low mood, anxiety and health related concerns. Whether you have a specific issue or a general sense that life is a struggle, therapy can help.
How therapy can make a difference
My aim is to increase self-understanding of your feelings, experiences and behaviours that you find difficult and want to change. Through therapy you can get to a place where life is meaningful and enjoyable again and you feel empowered to be able to face life's up and downs. I work at your pace and offer both short and long term support to suit your needs.
The commitment I ask of you is to be willing to explore your emotions, life experiences, behaviours, and ways of thinking honestly and openly, within the context of our relationship, with me as your companion, facilitator, challenger and supporter.
Payment
I ask that you pay on a weekly basis in advance of our session. I can accept bi-weekly/ monthly payments if that works best for you.

My first session
I offer a free 15 minute phone call to allow you to get a sense of who I am and ask any questions you have before booking an initial consultation with me.
Our initial session is 50 minutes. This session is for you to get a sense of what it would be like working with me and to decide if you'd like to continue into regular therapy. There is no obligation to continue into therapy, it is your choice.
During this session we will discuss what is going on for you in your life now and in general that has led you to seek support. It is to explore what help you'd like and where you want to get to in life.
You may have a specific 'thing' you want to address and in this first session we can discuss this specific concern. However, you do not need a specific reason or focus to make use of therapy, this is something we can discover overtime together.
