About me and my therapy practice
It takes tremendous strength and courage to reach out and finally say - something's not working. It can be easy to put aside our doubts, worries, traumas and behaviours, and let our busy lives take the lead.
Yet as you know, these feelings don't just disappear, and one day something builds up within us that makes us say - 'ENOUGH, I need to deal with this.'
Naturally, our first step is to reach out to friends, family, or colleagues, and although we respect their opinions, do we truly allow ourselves to be vulnerable within these relationships?
Are we completely honest about our feelings, or do we often water things down as to not worry or upset those we love? More importantly, how often do we sense that they’ve really listened or understood us?
That’s where a counsellor like myself can help. Counselling creates a safe space where you can talk openly and honestly about you, and what you need, without worrying about judgement or damage to a relationship.
Now, you may be thinking - how can just talking bring about change?
And my response would be - when was the last time you felt truly heard?
Yet in the context of our professional relationship, I will hear you, as you will too, allowing you to slowly make sense of your difficulties.
And that genuinely is my philosophy of counselling and why I'm so passionate about supporting others; because when we feel truly heard and understood, we have the ability to survive, renew and grow.
About Me
As well as my private practice, I have many years experience working within Domestic Abuse Services; consequently I specialise in Trauma focused therapy.
Yet my work is not limited to Trauma. I have experience working with a broad range of issues.
Practice description
My Private Practice is based in Rainham, Kent, where I offer Face to Face Sessions.
I also offer On-Line Sessions for clients that are unable to attend in person, or need more flexibility.
Outside of the therapy room I offer Walk and Talk Therapy; this therapy takes place outside, walking side by side, in a number of thought-out routes in the open countryside.
My first session
I understand you’ll have many questions racing through your mind at this stage; will I like them, will they like me, will I feel comfortable, will they judge me, what if.....
So please let me put your mind at rest; I offer a free 30 minute ‘coming together’ session, which gives you the time to ask as many questions as you like, and decide if I’m the right person for you.
It also allows me time to explore your situation, and to understand your hopes and expectations.
