About me and my therapy practice

I specialise in working with LGBTQ+ clients and those who have always felt ‘different’ in some way.

Your identity and experiences might make you worry that most therapists out there wouldn’t get you. This may not be the reason you’re coming to therapy, but you don’t want to have to spend your session time educating your therapist about it.

You might be looking for help because you are experiencing anxiety, relationship challenges, difficulties making decisions or setting boundaries. It might seem like you have too many overwhelming feelings, or rarely any feelings at all. Maybe it seems like you’re getting in your own way and that you are frustratingly repeating the same unhelpful patterns and ways of coping which you know don't work. You're ready to try something new but you don't really know where to start.

Working with me can help you

• Process your feelings so you don’t get so overwhelmed and stay more connected to yourself and others

• Overcome your challenges and difficult past experiences so you can feel comfortable, live a more fulfilling life and bring your genuine self to the world

• Improve your relationships, set boundaries and stand up for yourself and what you need

• Better know, understand and accept yourself

• Recognise and use your existing strengths and to create new and more effective ways to navigate your life

Practice description

I create a welcoming space to explore your experiences with you and use my knowledge of attachment, self-compassion and trauma-informed polyvagal theory, along with insights and hope from my lived experience, to help you better know, understand and accept yourself.

We might be a good fit if:

You value a compassionate approach, which can also be gently challenging

You want a down-to-earth therapist, who will be real with you and answer any questions you might have. You don’t like long silences or cold, clinical therapists.

You would like a therapist who is more interested in what happened to you than what’s wrong with you.

You are ready to try something new and are aware that therapy can take work and time.

I am committed to examining my own areas of privilege and am educating myself as I strive to make my practice as anti-oppressive as possible – including undertaking training on the impact of racism, neurodiversity, class and disability.
