Availability
During the week I offer both morning and afternoon appointments which can start as early as 7:30am. I am generally not available for weekend work, but will offer Saturday morning sessions under special circumstances. I also offer some evening sessions, but limited slots. All times/days subject to availability.
While we are all monitoring coronavirus, I can only offer Zoom or telephone sessions. I do try to be flexible but cannot guarantee availability.
About me and my therapy practice
Various situations that confront us can also cause us to struggle to live comfortably. Other times we are aware of our over reactions. Some situations can also have a knock-on effect in other areas of our lives. For some this may reside in a difficult childhood, or an unhappy marriage, or discomfort in other relationships or other unresolved issues.
It is not easy to be vulnerable regarding these things. However, when our life is not functioning comfortably it can trigger a desire for change.
I would like to help you navigate those areas of discomfort or unresolved memories or situations so you can begin to process these places.
From my own experience of therapy, I am aware how that first step can lead to life changes that can also enable you to understand yourself in a different way.
I consider myself approachable, non judgemental and respectful, and seek to offer an environment that aims to be supportive and empathic, working collaboratively with you.
Practice description
I am a registered member of BACP and I hold professional qualifications in counselling. I am Person Centred in my approach, but do also use the skills I acquired when studying for my University Diploma in Psychodynamic Therapy. Areas I am passionate about are working with teenagers; those who have experienced difficult childhoods, and those with addictions, with a particular interest in food and sex addiction, where I can use the experience gained from working three and a half years at an addictions charity.
My first session
I offer an initial 30 minute session by phone or Zoom, for which there is no charge. It is important to me that we both feel we could work together. It also gives us both an opportunity to ask any questions before committing to anything. Thereafter, should you decide we are a good fit, sessions of the standard 50 minutes can be arranged, usually on the same day and time weekly except if we have made other arrangements, as I do try to offer flexibility where it may be needed, but please note, this is not always possible.
Once a first meeting has been established charges commence. Payment would be expected by bank transfer on the day of your appointment.
