About me and my therapy practice
I have been practicing as a therapist since 2020. I have focused a lot of my practice on supporting people subjected to sexual violence, and anyone impacted by psychological trauma. I have worked in a mixture of settings, mainly within the voluntary sector for various charities. I have also worked with further education colleges and employee assistant programs.
Having practiced for a long time, you can rest assured that you are choosing a knowledgeable and skilled therapist who can support you to navigate any issues that bring you to therapy at this time, and to work towards your goals.
Many clients come to therapy with labels like "Depression", "Anxiety", "PTSD". But on their own these labels tell me very little about your issues, needs, or goals. You may identify with and embrace such labels, and need a place to explore your experiences that come with them.
Or you may not even be able to put a finger on exactly what your difficulties are. We often hear words like "trauma" and struggle to identify with them, or tell ourselves that we have been through "isn't that bad, so-and-so has it worse".
I am not here to label you. I am here to provide a safe space where you can explore your unique experiences and arrive at your own conclusion, as we work to develop more insight.
You might be someone that needs a safe, non-judgmental environment to really be free to express yourself in a way you can't elsewhere. Maybe you don't even know how to begin exploring your emotions. It is all too common for us to get stuck in our emotions left over from something in the past, or use more "acceptable" ones to cover the most helpful ones. I'll help you pay closer attention to your emotions as they're experienced in session.
Please make contact with me and we can discuss your needs further.
Practice description
I describe myself as a person-centred, emotionally focused therapist.
This means I will focus on fostering a safe and non-judgemental therapeutic environment. I may ask some questions early on to get to know more about you, and to identify your main issues and goals.
We will then work together to reach those goals, without me telling you what I think you should do or using my opinions to sway your decision making.
I will not be diagnosing you, however I can support you to explore what any potential diagnosis means to you and how you can adapt to live with any challenges they impose.
As an emotionally focused therapist, I will support you regulate your emotions so they feel manageable. From there, we can begin to listen to those emotions as a source of valuable information. This can help a lot of people recognise where in their life they feel stuck, and to find what they need to move forward.
My practice is also trauma-informed, meaning I have an awareness of the various and profound ways trauma can impact many avenues of our life, including your nervous system and how we relate to others around us. I also understand that the trauma is not your fault, nor is it something you ever deserved happen to you.
This means that if you are impacted by trauma, I will support you to explore coping skills and to build more safety and stability in your life. Doing this before we begin to unpack trauma can be the difference between painfully difficult therapy that leaves you feeling just as stuck as before you began, or therapy that brings you a sense of growth and fulfilment.
My first session
In the first session we will focus on exploring the main issues that bring you to counselling at this moment in time, if they are known to you. This will give us an opportunity to lay out the context in which our future sessions will be built on. If you aren't quite sure what they are yet, that's okay too! We'll work together to figure it out.
My role is to get to know the problem from your perspective as closely as possible, so I will ask more questions to help get a sense of not only what the problem is, but the emotional difficulties you are living with as a result.
What I can help with
Abuse, ADD / ADHD, Anger management, Anxiety, Autism spectrum, Bereavement, Child related issues, Chronic fatigue syndrome / ME, Depression, Eating disorders, Identity issues, Infertility, LGBTQ+ counselling, Loss, Men's issues, Neurodiversity, Post-traumatic stress, Pregnancy related issues, Redundancy, Relationships, Self esteem, Self-harm, Service veterans, Sex-related issues, Sexual identity, Sexuality, Stress, Trauma, Vegan allied, Women's issues, Work related issues

About me and my therapy practice
In our sessions, my approach is centred around you—your experiences, your emotions, and your journey. My practice blends three powerful therapeutic methods: person-cantered therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). Together, these approaches help to gently guide you through the challenges you’re facing, especially those related to trauma.
You won't be asked to do anything you are not comfortable with, and without an invitation. Working through trauma involves giving you the power to make your own choices. With that in mind I will ensure that you have the opportunity to make choices. This includes choosing what we work on, and how.
My main focus is on providing a safe therapeutic space so that you can begin to open about your challenges and experiences.
Practice description
For those of you looking for EMDR therapy, I currently provide this online through video calls.
In EMDR there are several phases we work through together. The first two phases are focused on history taking, where we learn more about the problems you are facing and the impacts they are having on you; and a preparation phase, where we focus on identifying coping skills and other useful resources to help you manage painful and uncomfortable emotional experiences.
EMDR also uses Bi-lateral Stimulation, a way of stimulating our mind through a variety of different approaches. Eye movements are the most common but we will work together to find the approach that fits you best.
When you choose to work with me, you can expect a warm, empathetic, and non-judgmental environment where your experiences and emotions are honoured.
From the moment you step into our sessions, my priority is to make sure you feel comfortable and safe. Whether you're sharing difficult memories or exploring complex emotions, you’ll find a space where you can speak freely, knowing that you’re deeply respected and never rushed.
We’ll work together at your pace. I see therapy as a partnership where your voice is central to the process. You can expect to be actively involved in setting goals, exploring options, and determining what feels right for you. I’m here to guide and support, but your insights and feelings will always lead the way.
I blend person-centred therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and EMDR to meet your unique needs. You can expect sessions that are adapted to where you are in your journey, whether that means gentle exploration, focused trauma work, or learning new ways to manage stress and emotions.
My goal is not just to help you cope but to empower you. As we work together, you’ll gain new insights, skills, and perspectives that can help you navigate life with greater confidence and resilience. Healing is possible, and I’m here to support you every step of the way.
My first session
If you have chosen to work with me using EMDR:
Your first session is an important step in your journey, and I’m here to make it as comfortable and reassuring as possible.
The first session is all about getting to know each other. I’ll create a relaxed, open environment where you can feel at ease. There’s no pressure to dive into anything too intense right away; this is your time to share what feels right to you.
We’ll start with a conversation about why you’ve decided to seek therapy and what you’re hoping to achieve. I’ll ask some questions to get a better understanding of your background, current challenges, and what’s most important to you right now. You’re in control of how much or how little you share.
I’ll introduce the therapeutic approaches I use—person-centred therapy, emotion-focused therapy, and EMDR—and explain how they might support your specific needs. We’ll discuss what you’re comfortable with and what approach feels right for you.
Together, we’ll begin to outline some initial goals for your therapy. These goals are flexible and can evolve as we move forward, but they provide a starting point for our work together. It’s important that these goals resonate with you and feel achievable.
I encourage you to ask any questions you have, whether they’re about the therapy process, what to expect in future sessions, or anything else on your mind. This is also a time to express any concerns or hesitations you might have. I’m here to listen and provide clarity.
By the end of the session, we’ll have a clearer sense of the path forward. We’ll discuss the frequency of sessions and what the next steps will look like. My aim is to ensure you leave the session feeling more grounded and hopeful about the work ahead.
The first session is a foundational step in building a trusting therapeutic relationship. You can expect to feel heard, respected, and supported as we begin this journey together.
