About me and my therapy practice
I am an Integrative counsellor, meaning I have been trained in a mixture of theoretical approaches and adapt my approach depending on what you bring to your sessions and what you want to work through.
I have lived and worked in various places both in the UK and abroad and feel this gives me a diverse view of looking at the world, the unique journeys and challenges we may face throughout our life and how we experience the world around us. I value non-judgement, self-awareness and diversity.
My personal journey into counselling and to where I am now as a person has been an interesting one with twists and turns and my own challenges along the way. Counselling, movement and nature are 3 core threads that have supported me to manage, make sense of, and nurture myself and I believe they can help others too.
Practice description
I would describe my approach as laid back as I believe that crucially for you to gain as much benefit from our sessions as you can that you need to feel comfortable.
Counselling/therapy can be daunting initially as you explore the many different types available, choose a therapist and embark on your first sessions but once the first hurdles are overcome it can be an experience of unique value. Whether it is working through current challenges, exploring your future or perhaps reflecting on your past to help you improve your well-being in the present.
My first session
I offer a free initial introductory chat on the phone to explore if we think we might be a good fit to work together. If we decide to continue we would then decide days and times of future sessions and whether they will be in person or online.
First sessions can be a good time to explore what has brought you to therapy, what you hope to gain from our sessions and get to know each other (this often takes more than one session), and I can try and answer any questions you might have about therapy.
