About me and my therapy practice

Do you have anxiety, self-doubt, and a tendency to be self-critical, blaming yourself for difficulties? Maybe you have high standards, are a perfectionist, and ambitious in wanting to go forward, but feel stuck in the past or continually unhelpful repeat patterns . At times, you feel lost and confused about how to achieve what you want from life. You may have worked on yourself, but still feel 'stuck'. You no longer want this stress to impact on your self-esteem, work, and relationships. Burdening those close to you feels unfair, and so you are looking for professional  support to improve your life and heal. As a BACP therapist, I have the expertise, training and empathy to help you.

Practice description

I will help you by listening to you with empathy, accepting you fully, and providing a safe space where you can speak without judgment. Through talking, you will gain clarity on your situation, become more aware of your choices, and feel able to work towards your goals.

I have training in a variety of counselling approaches: pluralistic counselling, (based on your goals, and strengths); existential counselling (exploring what is meaningful to you); CBT (uses and helps you change your thinking patterns); and creative methods (sand tray, narrative, craft or card tasks). I may also draw on mindfulness strategies and visualisation techniques to help you see a future pathway. I work with each client as an individual so their treatment is bespoke to them.

My background.

My background is in developing people as a highly experienced teacher and also a leader (in middle management roles). Given this, I have over 25 years' experience in helping people learn and facilitating growth.

My first session

In our first session, I will ask you what the difficulties are and what your goal is. We will agree a counselling contract. I will ask you to give an overview of life events, and will ask you if you have had counselling before. I will be kind and offer a safe and confidential space for you.

Clients find me warm, kind and supportive and I will give you the space you need to talk & to process your feelings.
