About me and my therapy practice

Welcome, I’m Suzanne. I am an Integrative Counsellor/Psychotherapist and Coach. I offer a non-judgemental, open and safe space for you to talk. My approach is warm, empathetic and grounding. I work intuitively and integratively, utilising several different ways of working relative to each client and dependent on your needs. I will help you to navigate a journey of self-discovery and self-acceptance through self-compassion.

I am able to offer you a truly bespoke therapeutic relationship, having worked with a diverse range of client issues through both the NHS and private practice. Although our work together will be specifically tailored to your needs, my practice tends to have a person-centred foundation, drawing upon other methodologies such as Gestalt, psychodynamic, creative psychotherapy, impacts and sensations in the body (somatics) and trauma-informed stabilisation interventions. Where appropriate to you, we may also incorporate more directive solution-focused, positive psychology and coaching methodologies into our work to help you to realise your own abilities. I offer both long and short term therapy, and can be flexible to your needs.

I particularly specialise in supporting young women and girls through difficult life experiences such as bullying, loss, trauma, relationship issues, societal pressures, low self esteem and challenging transitions or crossroads, although I have also had a diverse client-base outside of this. I provide a solid grounding space from which we will explore in a safe supportive way, moving at your own pace. Together we will consider your experiences, how they show up for you and how you can be empowered to achieve greater freedom and autonomy as your authentic self.

I believe that self-awareness and self-acceptance are a journey, and as such, all our paths are different. Often taking the first step on this path can be daunting and I will be sensitive to your unique situation, offering a holistic approach to therapy that works for you.

Practice description

I am a BACP registered counsellor/psychotherapist and coach, and I hold a Masters of Science in Integrative Counselling and Coaching from the University of East London (UEL), as well as a Bachelors degree in Law. At UEL, I completed the advanced Level 7 training on a ground-breaking course which taught the integration of counselling and coaching practices. I received comprehensive instruction in psychological and theoretical approaches, advanced counselling skills, therapeutic interventions, evidence-based coaching practice and clinical client experience.

Put simply, counselling generally focuses on resolving internal conflicts and facilitating psychological changes. In contrast, coaching is primarily aimed at achieving goals and modifying behaviour or habits. The two can work well together as complementary approaches and, where appropriate and agreed, I am able to flex between the two while assessing client needs.

After spending several months in Northern India and gaining my Yoga Alliance teaching and sound healing certification, I also developed a keen interest in mindfulness, meditation, and body work / somatic therapy. This interest led me to focus my Masters dissertation on the use of somatics in remote and online therapy, and it regularly features in my practice. Where relevant, we may work to understand how unresolved emotions, stresses and traumas may have been internalised.

I have been practising for over four years across a diverse range of settings such as NHS IAPT for London Borough of Wandsworth, low cost counselling services, private practice and corporate/workplace.

We are all on a continuous path of learning, I am committed to both professional and personal growth. I recently completed further training in working with children and young people, and I am also undertaking a course in Yin yoga.

Please note I work remotely online or by phone.
